I'm still mad that my mom wouldn't buy me a lion. An exotic pet store burned down and it was the only animal that survived. I think it would've been $1000 well spent and I would've been the coolest kid in school.

HOLY SHIT! We get alligator snappers up here in Ohio, but nothing like that monster. The "small" ones are mean little devils, we used to pull 'em out of creeks as kids.

I read someplace once that when animals like big cats are bred in captivity, they're often raised alongside more domesticated animals like dogs and such, and the dogs hang around when they're taking the cats through situations that might be stressful -- they're used to the dogs because they grew up together, and when the dogs don't flip out about whatever, the cats take their cues from the dog and don't stress out as much.

I thought it was a cool video because the cat behaved exactly like you'd expect a domesticated cat to behave. Granted, I wouldn't ever be that comfortable around a big cat like that, but it's interesting in a nurture vs. nature context.
