Dana 35 might be a turd, but it's golden compared to the AMC Model 20. I just finished rebuilding my first and last Model 20. Never again... Upgrading to a G2 D44 with a Detroit locker, 4.10 gears. Still trying to decide between a 30 or 33 spline. I need to decide by tomorrow. |

I had Dana 44's in my jeep. Damn things worked great. Never an issue even under a full sized Cherokee on 33's I pushed my luck with 33's on that D35. I knew it was eventually going to give out since the rear end had issues since the day I bought it. I'll eventually kick the tire size up to 35's |
| Dana 44s are great. Especially when you have them professionally built, but you don't know they shipped to you with no gear oil because you're and idiot. Then they spin pinion bearing and lock up at 50mph and send you sliding backwards across a county road into a corn field. Good times. |

That sticker does not belong on that vehicle. A deuce and a half burning used motor oil, ya. A jeep? No. Quoted:

The hippies won, no tears for you. 4.10 gears with a 3 speed transmission drinks gas. |

If i had the money to drop 3+ grand on a turnkey axle I would look at dynatrac before I would go with some junk brand from 4 wheel parts you can get a dana 60 for 4k with an arb already installed. Out of my price range, more than what I need. G2's have good reviews. |

This has been tempting me.
http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/pts/5489919663.html But I've also got a line on a JK rubicon d44 for 700 |

I will never put a mechanical locker in the rear end of a jeep again. They work well in the front but the crab walking it causes in the snow/ice is excessive. Almost impossible to go straight in an off camber situation. What is this snow/ice that you speak of?

![]() Well any slick surface really. I never had that issue in the mud. Dunno.... |
| When I blew the Ford 10.5 rear in my excursion for the 4th time I was going to order a dynatrac dana 80 but the 14 week lead time got in the way, then I found a builder that built the dana 80 with arb, 4.30 gears and strange axles for 2200 and I had it in 10 days |

Everything breaks on a Jeep ...... Everything. This is true! I just had to get my friggin' drivers seat repaired. ![]() I had to replace my crankshaft position sensor just about an hour before the rear end blew.
