My wife has tons of photos on her phone of our kids and what not. I am thinking of getting her a digital photo frame so that they can be displayed and not hidden away. It’s just photos she has taken on her iPhone, nothing professional. I’m looking for advice on what to look for or brands to get. Something simple that has its own memory is what I’m thinking of, but if a cloud based setup is better I’m all ears. |

Probably best to stick with one that takes an SD card. Copy the photos to the card, put it in the frame, and turn it on. Wouldn't want one with sketchy security talking to someone else's server somewhere else. I wouldn't even want it on our local network. You could always get an android or iOS tablet and put it on a stand if you want something to display photos that's got better security than a picture frame. |

| We've had the nixplay for years. Love it. Can just email pics to a specified email address and they show up on the frame. (Only emails sent from user-specified email addresses are accepted.) Ran it off a USB stick for awhile, but it's more effort to update the stick than just send an email. Works well, more expensive than such an item should be, but very convenient. |

Unless the person is digitally challenged. We got the grandmas in my family these frames. As people take pictures, we can upload them across the internet to the picture frame. No screwing with sdcards or usb flash drives. If you have a smart TV with google/android, you can change the default screensaver slide show thing to any album you want in google photos. We keep a shared album between me, my wife, and the account I use for our android TV. Whenever one of us takes a photo and adds it to that album, it gets added to the rotation of photos that pops up on the TV. It works even if your wife uses an iphone. |

I have a NetGear Meural Canvas. It's nice. I bought the package that came with the rotating mount so you can turn it to portrait or landscape orientation, and a year's subscription to their image library. It needs access to your WiFi/internet so you can upload photos. You can control it with an app on your phone, or wave your hand in front of it. |

I bought a Pexar for the inlaws. They don't "do" electronics. They wouldn't mess with a smart TV. The Pexar was a great way for me to share pictures and them see pictures of my kids when we are so far away. I can upload pictures through an app. It's easy and they like it. I would like one for myself. Best money on a gift I spent. |
