| I have a lady that has a 1928 A1 Thompson,it is full auto that was registered by her husband,he died and left to his wife. The wife said it was registered on the last day possible in 1968. Has anyone got a clue as to how she needs to go about selling the weapon. I work in a store that has a regular FFL but I know nothing about the others. Somebody said it could transfer to a C&R with a form 4,I am just trying to get some info for her.The gun which I have not seen has a 11" barrel and is full auto. Her husband was wounded in WW2 and finished out his service on a base in the states,it is supposed to be marked US Property. Any help would be appreciated.. |

The first step is to have it transferred to her on an ATF Form 5.
That said, IIRC NC has some funky laws regarding machine guns - she really needs to find a local SOT to guide her. There's a list of recommended dealers over on subguns - http://www.subguns.com/c2c3/c3state.htm#North%20Carolina - for NC. |

Thanks I will let her know,is the gun presently legal? He died about a month ago and had had it put up apparently,I think she wants it gone. Just give her some guidance and don't let her get screwed. If you don't want to pony up the cash, make sure you at least tell her how much it is worth. |
| Ponying up the cash is not what I am asking for,I gave her a idea of the value and some links on gunbroker.I would never take advantage of a dead vetran's widow.Just trying to steer her in the right direction and keep everyone out of trouble.I think I have found a buyer for the gun but was just trying to figure out where to start.;)] |
