In the midst of an economic crisis, this failed President just used a 747 to travel 150 miles to a conference. He could have been there in under an hour by Helo, yet he chose to run a dog and pony show tying up hundreds of man hours and expense to go 150 miles from DC to Williamsburg.

| I'm no fan of the man, but since America long ago basically elevated the President to be an elected Imperator (granted, he still has to kiss the Senates ass more than the Roman Imperators did, but not by terribly much), complete with Praetorian Guard, we have no right to be surprised or shocked at this behavior. |

House Democrats were having a retreat and he went down to slum with them (and hold a press conference complete with teleprompters that he still stuttered through) instead of staying in Washington to make sure this bill, if it is so important, was being worked on by the Senate. He took AF1 because it was a big deal since it was his first trip on it as President and first time leaving Washington since being sworn in. Funny too how Reid said they would be working all night if they had to so they could get it settled, and adjourned shortly after they were sure he was out of town...
