I do not have a dish, and cable is not available out here. At work I sometimes watch late night. I come across the show The Shield. Great show, lots of action, corrupt cops. Probably reruns? Here is the question. What Season (1-6) are the best. I am looking to buy USED on Amazon.com. Bought 1 & 2 so far. Maybe someone into the show can detail the seasons better than Amazon. I have only seen maybe 5 of the shows in the last few years. |

Wiki-The Shield Theres the entry on wiki about the Shield. You can also go onto the fxnetworks.com and find The Shield section and read there. Hope this helps I'm a huge fan and can't wait for this season!!! |
| I started watching the Shield during season 2 which is still probably my favorite. I own them all and I buy them as soon as they come out. I still to this day think if I saw the first episode of season 1, I may have never continued to watch it. Funny now how it is my favorite shows, along with 24 and the Unit. |

While it is an excellently written and acted show,I have a slight problem with it. Mackey murdered a police officer in cold blood. For all the ARFCOM hate towards LEO's,I find the enthusiasm for Mackey...odd.Not to say schizophrenic. Here is a (fictional) LEO who has no sense of restraint or respect for the constitution-at all.Of course,he doesn't write traffic cites ![]() The list of Mackey's sins include:multiple counts of murder, torture, extortion, robbery, theft, kidnapping, drug trafficking, assaults from 'C' misdemeanors to "A" felonies. Now add lying ,adultery, enabling drug addicts and other petty criminals. Finally-and perhaps worst of all-he is rude, unkind, and uses bad language. |
That's the draw. Vic is a flawed and complex character. Not good, not bad, but a very interesting character. |
Clint Eastwood pioneered the concept of "anti-hero" with his "man with no name" character in the spaghetti westerns of the sixties. A gunslinging killer who had no compunction toward killing anybody who got in his way. Remember Lieutenant Schaeffer in "Where Eagles Dare?" He didn't think twice about shooting that German secretary in the back as she was running away. "Oh, but that was war!" some will say. True but that does not alleviate the fact that she was an unarmed female whom he coldly executed with a bullet between the shoulder blades. The Shield rocks.
