Dream gun for sure. I really want one in 30.06 or 308.

Got an Egyptian in original trim (not Century replacement furniture) in 8mm, love that thing, a weapon from a more elegant age....

If you can get a nice 8mm, I would....nothing wrong with them!

I have an 8mm. It's nice, but the Hakim is nicer.

I have an argie in 7.62 NATO that takes the detachable mags. One of my favorite C and Rs.

Hard to tell from the pic but that looks like a Venezuelan  muzzle brake. If it is its worth a few bucks.

Last one I shot painted all over an off the freaking target. I had to pick up an 03A3 off the bench a put a few rounds through it just to be sure it wasn't me...it wasn't!

The two 8mm models I had were very unreliable and I gave up on the system and sold them off.

The Argentine FN49s are my favorite, but I'd like to have a Belgian and Venezuelan too.

You do know that they have an adjustable gas system right? (They are just a bit of a pain to get to)

Don't even think twice. BUY ONE!

The immediate predecessor to the FAL, the FN49 shares many of the same fine qualities - Belgian craftsmanship, a gas operated recoil system that is easily adjusted, nice battle sights, and low recoil. They are virtually identical in length and weight to the M1 Garand, but you can choose your choice of calibers.

I'm fortunate enough to own a Luxembourg model in .30-06, an unissued Egyptian in 8mm (still packed in grease!) and two of the Argentine Navy models converted to .308:

They are superb battle rifles and a joy to shoot.
