My wife was a career prosecutor. She had it happen to her by a male judge over the fact she wasn't wearing pantyhose. It's probably less now, but 10 years ago, most women lawyers I'd spoken to have had male judges remark on their appearance. |

Folks need to come to grips with the fact that most judges are really little more than power-tripping retards. And it's significantly worse as you slide down the judicial ladder (e.g., fed court to state court to local/muni court). ETA: This is the state of Bexar County courts: Bexar County Debacle |

Folks, the judge is NOT a Muslim. That attorney had one court appearance on 9/21 - county court 12, DWI case, Judge Yolanda Huff. Some of y'all need to calibrate your sarcasm meters. |

Quick search on that judge and the problem becomes immediately obvious. Black-robed jealousy is an ugly look. That said, I have seen attorneys get publicly called out for their courtroom attire, including a guy getting a lecture from a federal judge for not wearing a tie to hearing. Should he have known better, of course. Would a "next time, make sure you have a tie" have been sufficient? Also, of course. I attribute it to the thin air most judges are exposed to on their high horse. |

I used to practice in front of a judge in IL who kept a truly hideous plaid jacket hanging on the coatrack in the back of his courtroom. Every once in a while during the winter, or if it was raining, he'd get an attorney come in who forgot to throw on his suit jacket before he put his coat on. They'd try to wear their coat up to the bench, which this guy hated anyway, and once he ordered them to take the overcoat off he'd see they weren't wearing a jacket. So he'd send them to the back of the courtroom to put on the hideous plaid jacket, and then they could approach the bench. He was kind of a dick. |
