Damn, that movie rocked. Finally had the chance to see it last night. There's gotta be a sequel coming out, because the timeline leaves years between the ending of "Salvation" and when the first "Terminator" started (Kyle Reese becomes an adult, humans develop beam weapons, etc).

I had no idea that Cracked was such an industry leader when it came to movie reviews. I haven't read it in a while... but then again, I'm not in fifth grade.

I guess the money it's raking in hand over fist must be Monopoly money.

I liked it.  I could care less what a bunch of whiny 15 year olds had to say about it.

Where they even around for the first movie?

Granted it wasnt a life changing event, but it was a pretty good movie.  I was entertained.

People can say what ever they wish, it was never going to be anything like the first two, but it was certainly a shit load better then the 3rd was. I enjoyed it very much and many friends have seen it 5 and 6 times.

I was expecting the end all, be all, everlovin, Jesus Christ, almighty, second coming, masterpiece that redefines fiction put to the celluloid, and in that respect, I was disappointed.  It was a very competent action movie, but not so much of a Terminator movie.  There are some plot holes and fluff, but overall, if you just sit there for two hours and veg, you'll be better for it.  It's not menat to be a thinking man's piece.  If Cameron directed it, it might very have been the almighty, but he didn't.  That said, I look forward to the sequel.

I have to say, NONE of the Terminator movies are high art. They're not thinking man's movies and never have been. They're "put your brain on hold, we'll do the thinking for you" action flicks, and God bless 'em for that.

article just point's out the obvious deficiencies with the movie, something that has been covered in various threads here ad nauseum.

The "sucks donkey balls" was my own review. It was a horrible movie and nearly as bad as T3.

Ditto.

The only thing that was slightly annoying was the constant rehashing of classic lines from the first movie. Other than that, I'm satisfied. Looking to see it again with some buddies this weekend.

what makes a terminator movie?
its simple,-
a semi-truck case scene, german shepards, mini-guns, and arnold.
without any of those, its not a terminator movie.

FWIW I liked this movie.  I was a little disappointed, but that is mostly because I have been waiting for this movie for about 15 years.

You've got to be kidding. As of now it's a bust. I think it needs to make like 200 million just to break even. Last I checked it was about 115 million. It was Ok at best when it should have kicked ass.

ETA Worldwide the total stands at $212,936,311. Although making a profit I guess, considering the cost to make, I don't consider that raking money in hand over fist.

Holy crap - the A-10 pilot took her helmet off to reveal - a hot chick!  Surprise.
Heart transplant surgery under camo netting in the desert!
Camp fires and snuggling while the world is crawling with hunter-killers?  In the original movie there was only ONE Terminator in the world and Reese and Sarah Connor had to sleep under an overpass in the cold to hide from it.  What's changed?
Additionally, SkyNet can't find an airfield in the middle of the desert?

The boring stupidity of that movie goes on and on.

I saw it on Thursday.  It was OK, nothing really great.

I do think that in the timeline of the whole story, Salvation skips/ignores T2 and T3.  With the metal being labeled 'Cyberdyne Systems', that would indicate that T2 didn't happen and that Cyberdyne Systems wasn't blown to bits.  It also apparently ignores anything in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

It does leave an opening for a sequal.  There are some subjects they could use, especially getting Kyle Reese to the time machine.

This was the intent.  There are supposed to be three movies total, IIRC.

The time that Reece says he is sent back FROM in T1, is ~ 10-15 years AFTER Salvation.  That implies that more story will be told.

I love how everyone complains about the Terminators in this film. FYI the ones in this film are the T600 giant dumb clunkers with rubber masks i.e. the ones Kyle talks of in the first film. Since it always comes up the point of Marcus, is he is a missing link(not really needed but thats how its written) he was Skynets research of fusing human flesh to a metal endo skeleton, which dosen't work cause he still has his brain.

5.56 will not harm an 800 series.

+1

In T1 Reese says they spotted the first ones easily. In Salvation, Skynet has just begun to build the "Arnold" version, which is the next progression after Marcus.

I think they did a pretty good job in showing where a coflict of that sort would be after a few years. The only real problems I had were with the dialogue.

SPOILER POST!

Crappiest movie of the century...

Bullets do NOT kill Terminators...PERIOD!

Christian Bale is not a John Connor

Arnold Swartesneeeeger had a body double that looked fake

The "good" terminator was a sissy and never even killed anyone

I did like the command post submarine idea... though I didn't like all the B movie actors
who were in charge and how they were all killed at the end!

Star Trek was much better and Capt Kirk gets it on with a Green Chick!

Some of you guys need to get a life.  Did you really go to this type of movie expecting art?  Go to a museum instead.....  I go to movies to be entertained.  Hot chicks piloting anything is expected and encouraged!!!   Are you really that worried about the time line?  I hope the next one is even more out of whack with robots sporting giant fake boobs and anything else that takes my mind off of the current administration's rape of my country.  Sheesh!

Again, it is a movie and this is just about the only valid point I have heard from people that didn't like it

Camp fires and snuggling while the world is crawling with hunter-killers?  In the original movie there was only ONE Terminator in the world and Reese and Sarah Connor had to sleep under an overpass in the cold to hide from it.  What's changed?
Well, several things. Skynet doesn't control the entire planet, the event of T1, 2, and 3 change how things happened. The judgment day was not as devastating and the one from the original. Skynet had areas where they had complete control of, they had areas that they would patrol as well. They also don't have unlimited resources, they need to build these things as well as refine the fuel for them. They don't go into areas of enemy control because they can't afford to lose HKs all the time.
As far as Reese and Sarah they were hiding from the terminator, but also the police

Additionally, SkyNet can't find an airfield in the middle of the desert?
Far out of Skynet's area of control, remember Skynet is a machine, a computer, it is in no hurry. It can wait to build up the forces it needs to destroy the humans. Also the base was heavily defended and Skynet knew where it was and had the underwater terminators just outside of the perimeter

The boring stupidity of that movie goes on and on.

Someone else said something about the bullets not being able to kill a terminator.

Since when? Derek in TSCC took one out with a .50, as well as other small arms fire.  And even if you disregard the TV show, we don't know anything about the terminators that we didn't see in the movies, that means T-800, T1000, and TX, with a mention of the T-600. The T-600s that they were fighting in this movie are only mentioned briefly, they aren't very bright and have rubber masks/skin. They are made of steel, but they are not armored They are disguised just enough to get close enough to be effective with their weapons. Even if you had the right ammo you still need to know where to shoot, so Skynet thought that they would be more than enough for the job.  When the T-800 model 101 comes out guess what, THE BULLETS DON"T DO SHIT

I don't get the hate for this movie. The first movie were not cinematic masterpieces, most of the complaints could be avoided if people actually tried to follow the very very simple plot of this movie, or by watching the first movies again.

If you don't like the movie that is fine, I've never said this was some amazing moment in film making, but it is good and entertaining, did what it set out to do, and it set up for the remainder of the human resistance, and 11 years later sending Kyle Reese back in time..

556 won't even slow down a T-800 but proper shot placement on a T-600 (the terminators in the movie) will stop it

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. The plot was disjointed, the story line was bad, the acting was awful (although the guy who played the good terminator was cool), and I simply could not get my gestalt working, a prerequisite for a movie like this.  Watch it if you are a big fan of the Terminator series, but only on DVD...not worth the small fortune to see it on the big screen.

And for that matter, the new Star Trek also sucked.

The money they make is from the diehard fans like you and me. First of all the script sucked and the acting was piss poor. The integrity of the movie was shot right off the bat when James Cameron decided not to write or direct it. James Cameron belived the Terninator series ran its course. Yes I watched it and yes I'll be a dummy and buy it on dvd. And I was supid enough to watch the T.V. series long after it started to suck (about 8 episodes in). Take a few film classes and you'll see what movies are really good and not just made to make some money.

Let's be honest, Terminator Salvation sucked.

I watched the trailer 100 times, and dragged my friends to the midnight showing. I was very, very embarassed about it.

The movie was written/shot during the writer's strike and it shows.
