All of the new "hidden" taxes that are being shelled out "got me to thinkin'" as they say in the South, so I did a quick breakdown on how much tax we are being hit with, as just a rough but fairly close percentage.
Income Tax: 30% Sales tax: 9% By the time I have earned and spent my dollar, without anything else being involved, I have already been forced to turn over approximately 39% of my earnings to the government. Buy gasoline? You are taxed about 18%. An average of .42 cents of every gallon goes to the government. Buy anything with a "sin" tax on it? You are taxed about 25%. Those of us that work are forced to pay income tax, unemployment tax, social security, and a plethora of other taxes. You pay plenty of taxes while alive but what if you die? Yeah, there's a tax for that. Let's not forget tanning, luxury items, cosmetic surgery, and other "non-essential" things that the government decided you should pay them extra for, even though they have nothing to do with those services. But wait, there's more! Court fines from tickets and other charges are indirect taxes but they are taxes nonetheless. We'll skip all the frivolous parking and driving violations that are designed solely to rake more money. The list is much too long. You know, the one that includes parking in the wrong place, parking in the wrong direction, etc. ad nauseum. Then there is licensing, which is of course a tax by another name. You need a license plate and registration for your vehicles. In some states, you need a sticker on that plate to make extra sure that the plate is super-duper ok, since a license plate by itself clearly wouldn't be enough. You might also need an inspection sticker and maybe a few other stickers, just to be really, really sure that you and your car are legit. You have to pay to hunt, fish, drive, get married, have a business, all soon to be joined by the new Health Care taxes. Try to hold your hard earned wealth in the way of inventory? Pay a yearly tax on it. Think you own property? No, you rent it from the government. It's a concept called "State Property" and it is what we live under. Stop paying your taxes on property that you "own" and watch how fast they take it from you. You own nothing; you are just a property manager for the government who pays them to have that job. Road use tax. Medicare tax. Recreational vehicle tax. How about Federal excise taxes, along with "universal service" fees, minimum usage surcharge tax, recurring and non-recurring taxes, usage charge taxes, state tax, local tax, and other taxes... all on just having a phone service? Of course, all utilities carry such taxes. This country was founded through revolution over a 2% tax increase and lack of representation. Quite frankly, the average modern Americans would likely be regarded as a bunch of... well, what would they think of you? |

My income taxes alone are more than what the average, two person, household in my city makes in a year. That's fucking thievery any way you look at it.
The cops don't show up at my house any sooner, nobody named an aircraft carrier after me, I drive the same shitty roads everyone else does, my city garbage man picks my trash up same as all the neighbors....My line at the airport is just as long as anyone elses..... What the fuck are my dollars buying exactly? I get not one Goddamn thing for the "extra" money I send out every year. Nothing. Pissed? Yea, you betcha. |

Don't forget payroll taxes (Fed = 15.3%––7.65% each from employer and employee) Then there's the special federal excise tax on fishing lures
Soon we may have a special tax on tanning beds to fund health care. We will have that, along with a number of other new taxes. Instead of directly placing the taxes on people's income, they are trying to conceal them (barely) through other means, such as adding new taxes to service oriented businesses, commonly used products, and basically every breath you take. |

too much tax! you are being taxed constantly and in multiple ways. It is way out of hand. 30% of my income is a ridiculous chunk. I wonder what the founders of this nations would have thought of such taxation..... The problem is that you pay way over 30% by the time every additional tax is figured in. The average is probably more like 45%. Put another way, you work at least 5 months out of the year just to pay the government. Seem fair? |
