Ha Ha! Surveillance video shows a violent altercation moments before a shooting at a Pompano Beach gas station Tuesday afternoon. Video shows a confrontation involving a man and a woman near a white SUV. Moments later, the SUV’s driver is seen getting out with a gun and firing multiple shots as the man runs away. BSO said the man was taken to Broward Health North. The driver was detained for questioning, and the shooting remains under investigation. Yeaaaaaah... Um, even though there was a fight a few minutes earlier, looked like he was just walkin past and talked shit when dude opened fire. Don't think you can reasonably say you feared for your life at that. Should've done it when he was attacking his bitch. Speaking of bitch, lil man bun was a complete bitch and didn't defend his girl when she was actually in danger.

| How is that going to work out from a legal standpoint? If he would have shot him when the perp was assaulting the woman that would be pretty clean. Especially when it looked like he might have been intending to strangle the victim. Waiting until he came out of the store and shooting him as he appears to just be walking by? |

Edits make it a little unclear. It appears bad guy messed with female passenger then went inside. After exiting he walked back past and driver opened fire. I could see a justified shoot when he first goes hands on. Many castle doctrines include your vehicle, so him trying to get in alone justifies. If not, he does put his hands on her neck, so I’m good there too. But if the timeline is as it appears, the threat ended and then the driver started shooting. If that’s how it went, he’s gonna be in hot water unless there’s other missing context. |

1. The woman is stupid for getting out. 2. Her "man" is a little bitch. Assuming he was in view of the initial fight involving the woman and not in the bathroom or such. 3. EDIT. Watched again. Black guy was approaching white guy when white guy started shooting. Im going with good shoot. Especially since that parking lot shooting months ago between the black woman and unarmed white guy was justified |

I feel zero sympathy for the perp but the time for shooting was when he was assaulting the woman. Plus the shooter definitely needs some range time. |

People need some social context here. Pompano is a long term sithole, but a common intersection of normal people and hood rats. Hood rat in wife beater assessed (correctly) he could probably do a quick money grab from the woman. Having window down and unlocked shows she is either an idiot or not from the area. Correct response would have been "get the fuck away from my car before you end up leaking." Instead of making it clear he would be ended, the couple showed they were weak. Perp bit the legs of the zebra and was returning for the kill. Driver probably had a pistol he hasn't shot more than a box of ammo and realized he was about to be car jacked. He shot the perp on the approach. Everyone in the area knows the drill. No one, black, white, criminal, cop, etc gives a damn about this perp getting shot. The cops are annoyed he survived. |

First, that couple either didn’t know the area or used poor judgement getting gas on East Atlantic in Pompano just a few blocks north of MLK Blvd./Hammondville Road. The entire area is and has always been a shit hole. Unrelated, many years ago, a friend, Scott Winters, who was a K-9 officer for Pompano PD, which no longer exists, was shot and killed by a mentally unstable person just a few blocks from that station. This is going to get some flak, but I’m initially inclined to go with this was a justifiable use of deadly force. A lot is going to depend on what was said during the first encounter and what was said during the second approach. If the suspect (the guy that was shot) was trying to commit a carjacking, which is a forcible felony, then retuned and the driver feared he was going to continue that attempt deadly force is not prohibited. In fact, under Florida law, 776.013 (aka SYG) deadly force is specifically permitted to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. The victim, who is the shooter, could have left, got in the car and locked his door or any number of other things. However, Stand Your Ground says he has no duty to retreat. Even though it looks like the suspect is walking away at the exact moment of the shot just before that he left the convenience store and walked right towards the car again. I think it is reasonable to believe he was going to continue what he started. In other words, the commission of a forcible felony was imminent. So, I’m ok with this. Based on what I see I probably wouldn’t have arrested the guy. I would have filed the case and let the State’s Attorney decide. Granted, I don’t know any of the details about the conversation and am making some assumptions. Attached File |
