I do the occassional home project so my brother got me one of these things/

It was laying around in my garage and I used it to cut wood paneling and cut in a dog door- I dont have a jigsaw - this thing cut through a solid core wood door like butter. Square exact cuts and straigt lines.

best tool on the planet for undercutting door frames. saved me a bunch of time when tiling my floors. I have the rockwell, and use the hell out of it.
Works better as a sander than my other orbital sanders too.

Fucking bonkers in how much time it saves, and saws like it.  But the rigid one holds up OK and does a lot of stuff.

Love them for drywall.

Oscillating saw and jig saw IMHO are the best attachments.  The palm nailer attachment sucks.

I have the Fein and a battery-powered Bosh.  Except for my drillers that's the tool I most uses.

The versatility is really impressive.

I thought they were gimmicky and swore I'd never get one but gave one a shot and they are pretty slick for drywall, trim and making square plunge cuts in stuff.

I have a corded Rigid multi-tool. it is quite handy but it is a light duty tool. I have killed two under warranty, one using a 1 3/8" holesaw, second time I don't recall  why. I like the interchangeable heads and use the right angle drill quite often.

I have the corded variable speed Dremel version.

Doesn't get used much but when it does jobs that no other tool I own can do.

Plunge cutting a perfect square in 3/4in MDF.... Check
Sanding in pointy little corners.... Check
Cutting plastic.... The semi circle blade is the best thing I have found for cutting stuff like ABS. Fast, no melting and clean edges.

I just found a cut in box blade that somebody makes for these things, I will get one very very soon.

I like to look at the AvE channel on youtube before I buy a tool. He breaks em apart and you can see whats cheap and whats actually good

I  love me Fein.  Want to get a cordless one.  I've used it to cut door frames,  drywall,  grout,  sanding.  So many uses.  I just wish the good blades were cheaper.

I've got the corded Bosch with the case and storage box for the attachments. It's a little on the heavy side compared to some other models, but I think it helps with keeping vibration to your hands down. The soft start feature is nice too.

I have the Dremel version and love it, especially for difficult spots or drywall.

Like others, it isn't always the best tool....but when it's the right tool....it's a really damn good.

I had a Fein for about 5 years and I gave it to a guy that worked for me because he was just getting started in the trades and needed some tools.

I got the Rigid version a couple of years ago and the DeWalt version a few months ago.

The oscillating multi-tool is the kinda thing that makes you wonder what you did before you had one.

That tool came in pretty handy when I had to replace a rotted bathoom floor.

I have the 12v Milwaukee. When I first saw them I thought that I would never have a need for one. I use the damn thing several times a week.

Well, I looked....if a sex toy attachment is available for oscillating tools, I couldn't find it.

I feel like there is a market niche being missed out on, I mean they make the sawzall attachments.

I dont see how these would make good sanders it seems that they would vibrate too little to be useful

If you do stuff yourself you will find it's not needed often but when it is needed it is the only tool that will do the job.  And it does its jobs very, very well.

Then you've never used one.

I always thought they were a joke until I bought one to remove grout from tile. I've since used that tool for more than I ever imagined. I went with a Bosch but I'm sure they all do the job.
