When I'm at work, very rarely will I have to urinate. I'll go 10 hours without even feeling the pressure. But, as soon as I get home I have to go. I'll end up going again within a hour or two. Then when I go to bed, I have to go about 2-4 hours after going to sleep. This wakes me up at least once or twice a night. Why is it that while at work, I can be fine for up to 10 hours, but I can't make it through the night? It's not like I drink less at work or anything. I drink as much while at work if not more than at home.

Is this  normal? Should I be concerned? Am I going to die?

I had a cousin that used to be the same way. Then one day while shaking it off after a piss, it just fell completely off.

I'm the same way, I drink 4 or 5 bottles of water while I'm at the shop and I maybe take one leak a day. When I get home I'm pissing more frequently. I always thought it was because I'm constantly active while at the shop, and perspiring a lot more than when I'm at home. If you're sweating a lot, you probably aren't going to piss as often. Who knows, maybe I'm high but it happens to me too.

Sometimes if I don't drink alot during the day, I'll pee once in the morning when I get up and then not again until I get home at night, and then like you several times up until bed (but I NEVER wake up in the middle of the night to pee).

I think you're probably partially dehydrated a good bit of the time, I know I am.  If you were drinking enough water, this wouldn't happen.

You need to have a prostate exam, particularly if you are 45 years old or older.  The prostate gland surrounds the urethra and if your prostate is swollen, you will have urination problems, ie: weak stream, infrequency, etc.

While you're at it, a colonoscopy would be a good idea as well - may as well knock out two tests at once.

Yeah, talk to your doctor about this.  It's probably just a perfectly normal thing, but you want to eliminate the miniscule chance of something very serious, and he also may be able to talk through your average day with you and shed some light on it.

Make the appointment, but don't sweat it in the meantime.

I find that I'm going between 15 and 17 times a day . That bothers me a lot . Could that be a prostate type problem ?      maxx

Yes, that is possible.  Frequent urination, particularly during the night, as well as the day can be a symptom of a swollen prostate.  It is best to have a prostate exam done, especially starting at age 40.  Most prostate problems can be resolved without surgery or invasive procedures if caught early.

Yeah, expected another one of those "So I banged this chick and I got a pubic hair stuck in just the wrong place so when I went to pee I pissed in two directions and neither of them hit the mark, and now she's pissed" threads.

You're sweating at work, or at least stressed.

You're relaxed at home.

Agreed, I'm not a huge fan of Dr. Jellyfinger - I thought he only saw women.  However, I'd rather know if I have a prostate problem before it gets to be the size of lemon.

Not to mention the fact that your prostate affects erections too - this is not something I'm willing to compromise on.

ETA: Not your prostate, I meant mine, with regard to erec... oh, nvm

Funny thing about smells, it depends on the person usually, it's perfectly normal.  But there are some foods that will make urine smell just obscene.  Asparagus, cabbage...

Make an appointment with the Dr. !!!!!

I had the usual aging symptoms of having to pee more often than I thought normal, and with a slightly high PSA was referred to a Urologist.  There, a hint of blood in the urine on a routine test led to more testing, which led to a cystoscopy, which found an unusual growth inside my bladder.  Now have just had the second surgery to remove low grade, low stage cancerous tissue.

Now waiting for my 3 month cystoscopy check after the latest surgery 11/21.  Hopefully the cancerous tissue won't come back.

Really puts things in perspective.  The job.....do what is necessary, the family........make the most of what you have.

That said, better to know early of any problems, rather than later.

Agreed, but it's hard to be calm when you start thinking about where you are going to find medical insurance with a history of cancer if you get laid off from your job.

Not at all, I understand completely.  Men, traditionally, do not visit the Doc nearly as often as we should, or at least until we start having symptoms.  I have friends that take better care of their weapons than their bodies.  To each his own I guess, but I try to convince them to get checkups before the "engine light" comes on.

I lost my father in April to liver and lung cancer, but he previously battled prostate successfully.

I hope all goes well in your next checkup.  Good luck.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and recklessly speculate that the "going" problem is rooted in psychological issues manifesting themselves physically rather than actual physical problems.

Your home is a source of stress.  It's not so much that you have to get up and piss in the middle of the night as you have anxiety driven insomnia, so you might as well piss.  Being at home with that "elephant in the room" gnaws at you, so you stress.  You stress, so you piss.

When you are at work, you feel in control and liberated, like you are doing something that allows you to master your life challenges.  You equate work with your sense of self. Most men do anyway.

Strange urinating patterns??

OP,
You need to see your doc. He will likely do a DRE (digital rectal exam) and order a PSA (prostate specific antigen) test from a simple blood draw to check for the possibility of PCa (prostate cancer). If anything appears suspicious, he will refer you to a urologist who will investigate in more detail. Almost certainly, your problem is NOT due to PCa but rather a simple infection or BPH, both of which can be treated, or at least ameliorated, with medication.
That being said, see your doc. Ignore any advice to the contrary which you may get here.

How did she aim? Was it sort of like a Flamingo with one leg planted firmly on the ground, the other tucked up and out of the way?
