I know we have some med students and folks in the medical field on the site...  What do y'all keep your stethoscope in for transport?

I work in research with human subjects and also spend time 'in the field' working on community/public health initiatives.  I don't mind tossing some items in my bag, but I'd rather not risk damaging the bell/diaphragm or tubing on my stethoscope (ADC 601).  The manufacturer's cardboard box will definitely not last.

I'm leaning towards one of the Maxpedition Razorshell Cases:

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

pocket

I've never used a stethoscope that was so far superior to another that I got really geeked up about it. Mid-level Littman's is about as high as I've gone.

Second vote for pocket.  Same rationale.

Around your neck?? It's rubber and the bell will not get damage is you put in on your bag...

If that's the case, you need to protect your tubing. Oils from you neck will harden and crack it after time. I put a CamelBak insulator hose on my Littman (see avatar). It was a frickin' bitch to get on, but well worth the effort.

I have a Master Cardiology II for 15 years in perfect shape by pocket, neck and throw in the back seat method of transport.  As a side note if you buy an expensive scope have your name engraved on it. They are a high theft item.

Thanks for the input!

You're not the first person I've heard say this...  The 601 isn't exactly a 'high Dollar' item, but I could definitely imagine it walking off.

Very cool.  I'm going to look at those hoses the next time I'm at Academy or Bass Pro.
