Think Top Gun  meets Flight of the navigator with a dash
Of Behind Enemy lines .

I won't give away the plot line ( If You Can Call It That )
but its transparent and cartoonish .

Special effects are ok , but nothing groundbreaking .
I give it a 2.

I’m trying to remember all of the comments about the movie from when it was first released.

Not many of us went to see it; we were all so disappointed that it was that bad.

I read the review and skipped it.  I may skip watching it when it comes to satellite.

It's been called "a dumbed-down Top Gun" which is pretty much an oxymoron.  Shakespeare actually reviewed it a couple hundred years ago when he wrote, " It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

The air combat sequences are totally unengaging (no pun intended) because they're all CGI -- there's no actual aircraft or piloting skill involved -- so literally anything could happen with no relationship to what's actually possible or not.

On the other hand, the CGI aircraft superimposed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln look great (as does Jessica Biel in a blue bikini) but the story is so numbingly predictable that I watched most of it at double and triple speed just to get it over with.

At least it was better than Fire Birds.

Of course it's a horrible movie.  Anything done by Rob Cohen is abysmal.  I don't know why people keep giving him money to make movies.

Let's see...The Fast and The Furious 1&2, XXX 1 & 2, had a hand in Torque.  Stealth was bad, too.  I've unfortunately seen all of these movies.

I could make better movies.  They need to give me lots of money.

I went to the grocery store to check it out yesterday. Sunday thru Tuesday is rent one - get one free. Two new releases for $2.99, for 5 days, I figure it's worth it. Usually. But they were all gone by the time I got there. Maybe next week.

The only one of these I have seen is Fast and Furious.  That was only because I was deceived by the advertising...  I was lead to believe that the movie would prominately feature a blown charger.  If this same asshat is still making movies, I'm glad I haven't seen any of them.

I'll check it out. If nothing else... Jessica Biel is in it. I didn't want to waste the money on a ticket to see it but in my living room I can deal with a stinker.

Loved the SU-37 dogfight sequence, ending sucked.  Overall it was not as bad as advertised needed more dogfights, and Fox deserved a better end.

The plane mockup was actually filmed ON the Carl Vinson.   It's the first time the Navy has allowed any non-Navy aircraft (or non-flyable mockup aircraft) to be placed on a carrier.

The mockup was built by a BOAT BUILDER.

Why was everybody paying tribute to Ray Charles at the end?

I thought it was meager at best. The potential was awesome, despite being done ad infinitum - AI develops a personality, and a sense of cameraderie. this was only glimpsed for a fractional moment towards the end of the film.

"Man... my only friend" - R. A. Heinlein, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress

Although for Jessica. I'd like to penetrate her airspace...

just saw it
it had potential early on, but overall I'm disappointed

a few of the issues I have with it

when he shoots the missile while in the hanger. as much explosion would have come back at him as gone out in an inclosed space like that
a refueling blimp
getting close to a village in daylight in enemy territory
her "assault" on that installation at night, and her hitting stuff while wildly firing one handed with a SMG
that was some huge ass napalm missile on that tree line
what looked to be a G36 going click click click click  when it ran out of ammo
