| I read some long techobabble explanation of how they worked that made my eyes glaze over. In short, everything they did was based on some form of carbon. So the steak, salad, and the knife and fork were all made out of the same stuff. |

In Star Trek, replicators create "real" meat at the molecular level, meaning its chemical composition and nutritional value are identical to flesh. However, this meat is synthesized inorganically from energy rather than being derived from a living animal, making it completely cruelty-free. In reality though, Vegans are whiny bitches and will still complain. |

I inquired with a vegan that's near and dear to my heart. Her response was that basically if an animal wasn't harmed in the process, replicated meat was good to go. She went further and said that in a non-vegan world where cows were getting slaughtered willy-nilly, it'd probably still be OK even if the original cow that gets replicated was slaughtered since there was less harm. She did point out that there's a lunatic fringe of vegans (yeah, process that one for a while) that think people shouldn't even take pictures of live animals since they're deriving non-consensual pleasure from said photos, and that those loons probably would have issues with replicated meat no matter what was going on. |
