There was a standoff in Cobb co this weekend (northwestish of Atlanta).  I was watching the news Friday afternoon, and basically what had happened was a serviceman had returned from overseas and had barricaded himself in an apartment and said he would kill himself.  In the midst of this situation was an interview with a local resident that I found most entertaining.

Obligatory Townswoman: "Yeah, heard them poe-lice were blocking off the traffic....and they were ever'where too.  And then I saw one of 'em had one of them rifles with the stayinds on it- they were on the roof-thass when I knew I prolly betta git outta hee-ya.

Translation:  "An acquaintance had informed me of possible law enforcement activity in the area, to include stopping motor vehicles on a certain throughfare near the area of crisis.  Many officers were in the vicinity.  And then I saw an officer who seemed to be of a sharpshooter discipline-his firearm was outfitted with a bipod and he had set up a tactical position on a rooftop nearby-it was at that time that I ascertained it would be in my personal best interest to leave the area post-haste."

Yeah, when she mentioned a rifle with a stand on it, I pretty much lost it.  BTW, bipods aren't an evil feature, are they?

Conclusion:  The Cobb Co SWAT team talked him out; no one was hurt.  Kudos to LEO on this one.  And to you guys in theater-stay safe.

Thanks for clarifying what a "stayind" was.  Dictionary.com was no help.
