How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? Whew, that was a lot of questions! i own a xd(m) in 9mm i will say that ive never had a single ftf/fte ever with the xdm - not saying its a wondergun, but thats my experience. i clean after every shoot, and i dont use what a lot of people consider to be crap ammo (wolf) i have no spare parts for it. im sure you could buy spare parts...right? i have a glock 30sf. thats a baby glock in .45. ive shot a glock 19 a lot, a buddies. it feels more natural to me to hold an xd than a glock. -Go to a gunstore or a friends place and hold both. thats the only way. you may feel better holding the g19 than the xd. we can all tout on the xd or the glock, but its down to personal preference grip compared to a 1911? not that much different. i own a GI 1911 also by SA and id say the angle is similar. the 1911 is big in my hands, the xd is great with the medium handgrip installed. i bought the xdm because of the spare mags, and i wanted a 9mm hi-cap pistol. it was between that and the g19. because of the price/free mags (4 total) i bought the SA XDM its a solid pistol. nothing AMAZING or BRILLIANT in my books, but it feels good, and i like it. eta : ive put close to 3k rounds in it if i had to guess....maybe a lil less, but around that mark. no problems at all. |

Ok, a few questions- 1. Has the Springfield XD been adopted by an police agencies adopted the Springfield XD? Some, I've seen some TX officers with them, when I left my old PD in CA, they weren't on the approved list. 3. Are they reliable and will Springfield Armory honor warranty work on them in the future? I've shot my XD9 in USPSA/3gun all summer, probably 5k trouble free rounds. 4. What is the finish? Melonite. Similar to others. The finish problems were early issues and seem to have been corrected years ago. 5. If you own one, what is you round count on it? About 10k on my first XD9, 5k on my new XD9. 6. What malfunctions/reliability problems have you had? None in either. Both 100% flawless. 7. Do you keep spare parts for it? Can you get spare parts for it? Lots of spare stuff available now, try pistolgear or xdguys.com 8. How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? Never owned a 9mm Glock. 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? Similar, not exactly the same, I love the grip of the XD. Whew, that was a lot of questions! Try www.xdtalk.com for some good info. |

Are they reliable and will Springfield Armory honor warranty work on them in the future? yes lifetime warranty 4. What is the finish? melonite i believe 5. If you own one, what is you round count on it? had about 4k on my xd40 and 5k on the xd45 6. What malfunctions/reliability problems have you had? none 7. Do you keep spare parts for it? Can you get spare parts for it? i dont have spare parts, you can get some spare parts from SA, other parts can be had 3rd party 8. How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? cant really compare, both are great pistols but shoot both to see what you like better 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? very similar Whew, that was a lot of questions! |
|
1. As far as I know, yes. Google will probably be your best friend on this one.
2. Seem to like it.. it's essentially a Glock. 3. Yes. 4. Now it's an improved Melonite finish. The early models had some rust issues, but the new finish takes care of that. 5. I own a XD40 service model and I am over 6000 rounds now. 6. Only malfunctions have been a few FTE after I installed a stronger spring and limp wristed the shot. 7. No. IIRC there are a few online shops that can help you out with most small things 8. Essentially the same gun with a few tweaks. Grip safety, which I like, same trigger safety, both have a drop safety. Function in similar manners, ergonomics are the main difference. 9. Very similar. This IMO is the main difference from the Glock family. XD's work for me, Glocks feel weird to me. Both great guns, neither will disappoint! |

Yes, but I don't have a list in front of me. My dept tested them and some of us are currently carrying them. The dept will get them if they are approved in the budget. 2. Nothing but good news so far. We got 10 test guns in early/late srping of this year. 3. Very reliable and I don't know about warratny work but they are training some of us as armorers 4. Black on black 5. 3500 rounds 6. No malfunctions personally. We did have a couple of Failure to feeds early on but that was more likely caused by ammo (Winclean) 7. We have no spare parts on hand as of yet but we will order some after the weapons are approved. 8. Don't know 9. I like the grip angle. |

Ok, a few questions- 1. Has the Springfield XD been adopted by an police agencies adopted the Springfield XD?I've seen officers with them. I don't think it has been adopted as standard issue by any US departments. The original version of the pistol, the HS2000 is used by agencies in Europe. 2. If so, what was there experiences? 3. Are they reliable and will Springfield Armory honor warranty work on them in the future?Mine has been 100%. SA will service them. You have to pay to ship it to them(unless they've changed that since '06) 4. What is the finish?Melonite or stainless. I have the stainless model. It has been corrosion free after years of CCW. 5. If you own one, what is you round count on it?Just short of 1000 rounds through. 6. What malfunctions/reliability problems have you had?None during normal operation. It will FTE if you limp wrist it though. 7. Do you keep spare parts for it? Can you get spare parts for it?I haven't really looked into spare parts as they non-existent when I first got my pistol. 8. How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17?I much prefer the trigger and grip of the XD to the Glock. People talk about the high bore axis of the XD being bad for follow-ups but mine snaps right back on target. Glock has more parts/accessories available. 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911?Similar. Both are very comfortable and feel made for my hand. I have medium-large hands. Whew, that was a lot of questions! I will add it is one of my more accurate pistols. |

How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? The only big difference is the XD's have a hirer bore axis. Not a big deal for me in the fullsize, a little weird in the compacts. Nothing training won't fix. 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? Grip angle is a concern for limp-wristed pansy fags Whew, that was a lot of questions! |

Don't know 3. Yes, and yes 4. melonite with black polymer. Decent quality fit and finish IMO 5. 3000-4000 rounds 6. Not a single malfunction that was not my fault. 7. No, and yes. 8. I liked the trigger of the XD better than the Glock, and the XD just fit in my hand better. Other than that they were very similar. 9. Identical. |

If so, what was there experiences? ––- 3. Are they reliable and will Springfield Armory honor warranty work on them in the future? VERY reliable didnt need any warranty work done to date... mine is about 3 years old 4. What is the finish? Blued 5. If you own one, what is you round count on it? 10 (California compliant) 6. What malfunctions/reliability problems have you had? running out of ammo 7. Do you keep spare parts for it? Can you get spare parts for it? no spare parts kept... another good question, I dont know if you can get spare parts... didnt have a need for them 8. How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? I like the feel of the XD over the Glock, but that is just a personal preference, as the saying goes, to each their own... if you have a local range that rents out guns, I would try both out 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? on mine, the 1911 is thinner than the XD, as far as the angle... I willl go and check and report back... give me 10 minutes Whew, that was a lot of questions! Yeah but you have to ask if you want answers right? My brother is in the market for a .45, so we took my 1911 (which he is a HUGE fan of) and my XD and he was trying them both out. after 300 rounds in each, he is still confused as to which one to buy. I like the versatility in the 1911 as to the grips, hammer, grip safety etc you can change out,,, plus the history behind it. However the XD does not need the modifications and ready to go right out the box. Mine is VERY accurate and all around a great pistol. |
| Just wanted to add that the XD I carry is the Tactical model 5" barrel, but we are going to get the Service model 4" barrel if approved by the gods that control the budget. We will then issue every officer a brand new XD and new leather gear (Safariland holster and mag holders) |
| I own a 4" XD9. I used to own a Glock 23 that is until I bought my XD. The Glock felt big and clunky in my hand after I started using the XD. I also own a SA 1911 GI and the XD fees better in my hand than the 1911. I have a few hundred rounds through it and not a hiccup! |

If you own one, what is you round count on it? 1000+ I don't really keep track but i know it's over 1000 because the case of aguila i bought with the gun is now gone. 6. What malfunctions/reliability problems have you had? No failures on mine. Slide locked back half way through a mag once, but I'm 90% sure it was just me hitting the slide lock. 7. Do you keep spare parts for it? Can you get spare parts for it? You can get some stuff Here. Mostly springs, pins, trigger upgrades, and stuff like that. I really wish SA would get it's head out of it's ass on this one. 8. How does it compare to the GLock of a comparable model- IE an XD9mm compared to a G19 or G17? Never owned a glock but i rented one when deciding which gun i wanted and i liked the XDs grip and trigger much better. G30 vs. XD45c 9. How is the grip angle compared to a 1911? No idea Whew, that was a lot of questions! |

Okay I'm a 1911 guy, I hate the way glocks feel. I have nothing against a glock other than the comfort and the implied safety.
That said I bought my wife a SubComp .40. The grip is a little fatter than a 1911 but the angle works for me. Just as an experiment I stepped off about 15 yards, and unloaded it as fast as I could fire it and put the whole hi-cap mag into a basketball sized target. I like the idea of being able to unload my pistol as fast as I can and not miss a mans chest. Oh yeah that was only the second magazine I had put through it. I have no idea how good I could get with it if I actually could afford to shoot it alot. |

Quoted: Quoted: How much are mags for the XD anyhow? the answer can be found. online. Yes, he probably can, but the GREAT thing about this place is although people find them on line for $X.XX There will always be someone to say "Oh man, you got ripped off... you SHOULD have nought them here: xxxxxxx.com for 50% less than what you paid" That is my luck... ALWAYS happens to me ![]() |

That's more than acceptable, IMO. Quoted:

XDm FTW!! If only they made it in .45. Longer/larger frame needs more development time. |
