Have not had one of these threads in awhile.  Lets hear some spooky stories while you were out hunting, camping, etc...

First one was hunting the NE area for grouse.  Found a good hillside with a bunch of old orchards/farmsteads covered with wild grape tangles.  It was just after the leaves peaked in color and there was a good layer of leaves on the ground.  The day was crystal clear, not a cloud in the sky.  Started down a long draw as I was working the hill side and by the time my dog and I came up the other side the wind had picked up and and some ominous clouds were on the horizon.  Seeing an old stone fence in the distance I hauled ass to the fence hoping there would be an old structure I could hunker down in.

Sure enough there was an old cobble stone structure with remnants of the roof.  I leashed my dog and we hurried inside trying to find the part of the roof that looked least likely to crush us when it came crashing down.  The winds were really starting to howl and the lightning was really getting nasty.  It was a really nasty storm.  I watched from what was once a window the trees move back and forth.  It looked like something out of sleepy hollow, I expected the headless horseman to appear out of one of the many old forest paths.  A few minutes into the storm everything stopped, the clouds were still nasty but no lightning and the air was still.

I heard some leaves rustle in the distance and through the window I could see eight or nine wind devils kicking up the leaves.  Not really all that creepy except the wind devils were all in the confines of the little cemetery all these little old farmsteads have.  I watched these wind devils for three or four minutes dance around and not a single one left the little knoll the cemetery was on.  Then they diapered and the storm was gone.

Probably natural weather but was really creepy.

At very least you could have put some more grouse on that damn hill if you are going to make me wet myself.

I once saw a squirrel humping a rabbit. That really creeped me out. Squabbits probably running around there to this day.

Car camping with my working GSD in San Isabel National Forest

something did circles around my suburban
my dog would have foed had I commanded it BUT she was content to hide behind me

the sense of pure fucking evil / dread was real that combined with the dog's reaction ( she has much better sensor package than I )

made me be very still clutching AR in the suburban being really really still

unassed the area post haste tracks indicate a large BIPED

Was out coon hunting one night and the dogs treed two coons in the middle of a swamp. Tied the dogs back and shot the first coon. Dogs went silent waitin for it to fall and about 50 yards away all you could hear was coyote howls all around us. Not quite scary, but enough of a suprise. If they were wolves that would be a different story.

But seriously, where is it, I know it's out west somewhere, that folks encounter the skinwalkers? Is thateven what they're called? Something like that. I've read a few very creepy stories about those.

I'm not sure that spooky is the term I used, but when you wake up and exit the tent and see this 25 feet away it has a way of getting your attention.
.
It was a moose hunt at the confluence of the Susitna and Chilitna rivers in AK.

I always hated the no tracks on the way in, but they are on the way out.

There's an old cemetery in the woods behind my house. Mostly graves from the 1800s.  I went in there once as a kid, just looking around.  As I was leaving I heard what I thought was whispering.  When I turned to look I saw something out of the corner of my eye. No idea what cuz I beat feet on out of there.

That's just creepy...

The way a dog reacts to something is usually a very good sign. That's why I have 4 of them.

When I was 14 or 15 I found lesbian coeds.

Was tubing down a creek about 50 yards ahead of my two buddies.  I came to this one bend before a long straight section of creek, and about 70 yards in front of me were 2 topless college age girls making out in the creek.  I was in disbelief/amazement, and my two dumbass friends that were catching up to where I was stopped were paying no attention to my gestures to stfu, and as they came up to me, were carrying on, caught the attention of the lesbians, who quickly gathered their tops and took off up the bank , and across a field toward the road where their car was parked.

I was tent camping in the middle of nowhere with my woman and her brothers and sister last summer on a HUGE piece of private land. It was litterally 3 or 4 miles to the nearest gravel road and probably 7 to the nearest house we only got as far as we did on atvs.

So we are shooting, hiking and setting up all day with nothing eventful happening when it starts to get dark. We are about to start the fire when all of us at once hear music off in the distance. It was coming from the way we came and getting louder then softer. It sounded like drumming and Indian chants from the movies. We were all frozen as it was loud then very quite then it would seemingly change the direction it was coming from, as if we were surrounded.

About 10 mins pass, by now its completely dark and out fire is raging and the music is still going on. We take out the FLIR and night vision and quickly look but nothing when one of her brothers yells "shut the fuck up" and blasts off a 12 ga shell into the mud.  Our big fire almost immediately dies out and as we are tending to it the music kinda drifts away. It was fuckin freaky as hell
