Today I broke a PSA barrel nut by hand without swearing or a torch or anything other than a wrench. I got a bolt catch roll pin in perfectly with no marring and no struggling. I got a trigger guard roll pin on the first try without struggling. I got both takedown pins in without launching any springs and detents across the room, never to be seen again. I found my armorer's wrench in the first place I looked. I should go buy a lottery ticket. |

The bolt catch roll pin is the trouble spot for me if there are any problems. Most of the time it goes in without too much of a hassle. However, sometimes it is a bitch. I think it is because of the differences in tolerances between the size of the hole and the size of the pin. |

Last week I tapped one for 6/32 for a threaded roll pin, took me all afternoon, but it was worth it. (and not a scratch!) I have a couple different bolt releases I want to try. I am now Gunsmith. Grovel before me peasants.

Pin fits inside a flattened-on-one-side punch that doesn’t make contact with the lower at all, but is dipped in plastic anyway just in case it makes accidental contact. Long enough that the hammer doesn’t come near the lower. Best $9 spent ever. |

Perfect every time. |

Knipex Pliers Wrench or the knock off Harbor Frieght version are much superior for this and Knipex offers plastic jaw protectors to prevent damage as well. |
