Anybody use one of these..??...do they work as advertised..??....my weekend go to Lowe's truck doesn't get much use in the winter and the battery runs down... |

I think the 5w panels will work for maintaining a battery but it won't do well for use in charging a low battery. You don't need a charge controller for the 5w panels. By my thinking, if they are confident enough to not recommend a charge controller to prevent over charging they must not be too confident in the panels ability to charge up a battery. I think the 5w panels help to keep things in equilibrium. I wouldn't buy less than a 5w panel. FWIW, I have two 15w panels wired in parallel that keeps the 12v deep cycle battery lighting my shed charged. I can watch the charge controller allow/deny current depending on the state of the battery. |
