An open letter to the Moderators of Arfcom... Thank you for taking the time to review my argument in defense of my avatar. I hold to my affirmation that this avatar is not racist, nor anti-semitic and it is not my wish that it be viewed in that manner. However, because my avatar is meant to represent the Scots-Irish people who helped shaped this Nation from it's inception, I will not dishonor their memory by removing the avatar. Not limited to Arfcom, online forums have become a popular destination of the American people to discuss political and current events taking place in our daily lives. And universally, internet forums are restricting our freedom of speech in a manner not consistent with the Constitution of the United States, but more in step with political correctness. While these restrictions are not done intentionally as part of a "tinfoil-hat" type conspiracy", it is my opinion that these restrictions are conditioning the American public to accept such limitations to their liberties and as a result, will ultimately find their way into our daily lives outside of the internet forum. I fully expect that my refusal to remove my avatar will result in my account being locked and I accept that decision. Sorry for the inconvenience, Bryan edit: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=673728&page=2 |
I edited my post. I was only referring to the accusations that it was anti-semitic. -Ben |
+1. Now your avatar on the other hand is patently offensive. I have written the moderators on a daily basis requesting that a fig leaf be placed over it. |

What kind of person goes out of their way to look for things that offend them? There isn't a damn thing racist about that avatar, unless you desperately want it to be - particularly after a REALLY good explanation was offered, and it was. Fucking victim mentality. Sack up, and quit letting 80x60 images on a damn forum get the better of you. This is some mickey mouse shit. |
Bad precedence. Then we have to give every other group a veto power over someone's avatar. Not that there is anything offensive about the OP's avatar. |
Did a mod actually direct you to change it or else? I don't see any indication of that in the thread you linked. If a mod didn't tell you to change it then you aren't going to get banned. |
Does the Ulster flag use a yellow 6-pointed star? I only ask, since I have only seen the hand if Ulster in front of white stars before, and the yellow tends to make some people think of Nazi Germany. |
I know. I can hardly stand it. The guy wants attention. If a mod tells him his avatar is offensive and he must change it, he has a handful of choices -- change it, appeal to a higher power, or leave. If he appeals all the way to EdSr, and and EdSr says the avatar goes, then he suddenly has two choices -- change it, or leave. And making an "I'm leaving now!" thread doesn't change that. I can't change it, and neither can you. This thread serves no purpose but to garner attention. So I gave him some. |
