I've been on the hunt for another player lately, and I saw this beauty on Guitar Center's site about a month ago. I don't rush into purchases and unfortunately this guitar got sold and shipped to Iowa. A few weeks later, I saw it pop up again, but with 2 finish cracks on the top. When the guitar came back up for sale, I contacted the store and haggled with them over pricing due to the finish cracks. We agreed on a price and I bought the instrument. By the time it was shipped out, there was a delay while it was in transit and it arrived with a cracked top. I am going to keep the instrument, because it plays well and sounds amazing, plus I get to hone my woodworking skills in performing a repair on a guitar that deserves a bit of help. Brought it home on Tuesday Attached File    After a couple days of 2 soundhole humidifiers being in the belly of the beast  Keeping some moisture captive over the crack (Friday morning)  I am taking the guitar to my friend Mike's shop to perform the glue up and cleating tomorrow. He's been building guitars for almost 30 years and just finished a studio/guitarmaking shop in Athens, Ky known as Bourbonbarrelguitar.com Once the repair is completed, I'm going to make some business cards with this Larrivée and one of my Taylors. I will update as progress is made. |

After a few hours with the paper towel on the top, the crack is mitigated a bit. Attached File Attached File This is good progress. |

Quoted: Dang. Hope it turns out to be a player! It played amazingly well when I got ahold of it. It had a Fishman active pickup installed which I have since removed. In order to arrive at a similar action, I had to put a couple saddle shims in. I am going to get a graphite saddle to fit to the guitar since it has an ebony bridge and it will look much better when done. |

The cleat has been clamped in since Saturday afternoon. A minor amount of retreating has occurred since removing the paper towels and I am going to do a simple string up now. I'm using the large diameter strings from a 12 string set that I pulled octave strings out of for a high strung tuning guitar. D'Addario 10-47. Attached File |
