I wanted an X-Box until I play Madden 20005 in the store. So, What does the Arfcom army have to say on the topic?
Link Posted: 8/19/2004 8:01:25 AM EST
Most games anymore come out on all the different systems...

that said, the xbox versions routinelly look better and load faster... Unless you like the games that only are out on the PS2, I see no reason why to buy it anymore. I actually had the PS2 for a year and sold it after I got my Xbox.

typical ARFCOM answer

Get both

or in this case, all 3

If you are an adult who has a job and likes playing videogames, there is no reason you should not have every good system that comes out.

There are games that are exclusive to every system that are worth the price of the system by themselves.

Get both! I did.

If it makes any difference, Madden 2005 is out on both systems. Just no online play with the XBox version.

Is this question still being asked?

X-BOX

I've got both...

I was an avid PS2 fan until my wife got an Xbox while she was TDY in Japan. I've played more Xbox in that last few months then PS2. Honestly though if I had to go one or the other I'd pick PS2 because of a bigger game selection.

Went with XBox mostly because it was the system that most of my friends had. I've been happy with the selection of shootem-up type games. Now eagerly awaiting Halo 2 and Ghost Recon 2.

PS2 is so much better. The controllers are much more comfortable and have a better design. PS2 has a better game selection as well. I've never been greatly impressed by the X-Box.

I have an XBox because it seems to have better racing simulations (which is all I really play)...

I don't have the dexterity to do FPS-type games (like Halo, etc...) for games like that, I'll stick to playing them on the PC. But, for driving games and such, I love the XBox.

BOTH of course (and GC too).

But if you really have to pick one, and it's not for little kids...you want an XBOX.

Shame on you all!!! We all grew up on Nintendo and so many have left and lost their way...

Nintendo has brought me nothing but happiness, and fond memories.

Gamecube all the way!!!

Long live Nintendo!!!

Ps2 = RPGs.... which are more fun than sports games.

I've got an Xbox that I never play, it's just to entertain the guys when they come over sometimes. I've played PS2 probably a couple dozen times, and I have to say I like Xbox better;
1. The graphics are ALOT better.
2. I like the controller setup better.
3. Halo and Ghost Recon h.gif
4. I like the games better (I think alot of the PS2 games are aimed towards younger kids, I don't like the fantasy or Jap games).

What!?!?!??!

PS2 has Gran Turismo 3, the best racing simulation EVER! Although this is my opinion, it is also the opinion of pretty much every gaming rag and online game review site. Every other racing simulation to come out (besides specific racing style simulations ie: NASCAR or F1) is doing it's best to move up to the standard set by GT3. There is no better racing simluation...

What? I am pretty sure you can play the new Madden on Xbox online this year...

I have the game, but haven't played it online...

For the record I kinda think that the ESPN version is better, and less than half the price to boot...

Are you sure about the online thing srv? It's certainly possible, but this would be the first year it's available. I know you couldn't play online in 2004 unless you had the PS2 version.

Wait, no, I just checked GameSpy and you can play online with the XBox as long as you have XBox Live.

I've heard ESPN has better graphics but the gameplay in Madden is better. Haven't played ESPN so I can't say personally. I can say that Madden 2005 on PS2 freakin rocks!

Edited: By the way, stenmk1, you'rve probably got a while to wait for Madden 20005

Madden IS online with xbox this year.

But ESPN football is a better-looking, better-playing football game for $20.

I thought GT3 was more arcade than simulation?

I mean things like Colin McRae Rally 04, etc. Yah, I've got some arcade games (Driv3r, Midtown Madness 3, Gotham Racing...) Arcade games are fun and all, but I like realism

I personally have both Xbox and PS2. There are some games on the PS2 that I really like (ie Socom1 / Socom2) and right now I am beta testing Killzone (really cool FPS). but.... I really like my xbox as well. I have alot of fun playing crimson skies... halo.. Rainbow6 3: BlackArrow..and others... and there are some really cool games coming out for it as well ( Halo 2, StarWars: Battlefront (offered on PS2 and Xbox, but the x's graphixs are better))

I guess it is what you are into... me its all about online... Xbox live definatly has more support then the PS2 online games... hands down..

Well... before my Atari, I had a Telstar Ranger - anyone else remember those? It had two or three Pong-esque games on it, plus (what made me ask for it for Christmas - I was just a wee lad) a couple of shooting games you could play with a full-scale plastic SAA that plugged into the console!

All of the games were B&W, of course.

ETA: Cool! I found a picture of it: www.pong-story.com/coleco_ranger.htm

Oh heck no, GT3 is the most realistic game I've played. Colin McRae rally is one of those one's I was talking about that's a specific class of racing. When I think arcade racing I think of the Need for Speed series or something like that. If you're talking about the driving itself, Driver3 is supposed to have a very realistic driving engine too. Sega GT for XBox was supposed to try to compete with GT3, and I've played both, and have to say I think Sega Gt failed miserably, it can't touch GT3. If you're a big racing fan, wait for GT4 to come out at the end of the year. Supposed to increase the realism factor, along with having something like 500 cars (i think).
