Of course my vote is an early Mustang. I love a bunch of them.

This one is probably the best looking to me:

Yea, very few body/exterior changes.
Optional stripes
Hood
Grill emblem change
Gas cap
GT 350 emblem on the back.
R model in ‘65 had a different back glass that vented heat out of the interior.  ‘66 R might have had it as well.  Cannot remember all the details now.  Some of the ‘65 R’s had quarter vents removed and aluminum panels riveted in place.  Hell, I think they also removed the gas cap and riveted a panel over it.

‘66 added side scoops and windows in place of the quarter vents, R model had different front valance.

A Camaro we restored at my dad’s shop back in 2004 or so.

1969 Z28 in Dusk Blue with white stripes and a black vinyl top. A combo that on paper I would scoff at, but once you see it in real life it drops your jaw. This may be the car we did, as it’s the only other example of this combo I’ve found in 20 years of scouring the internet for it. Also looks a little lower just as our car did from receiving an Eibach suspension refresh. It rolled out of our shop with 17” Torque Thrusts and Z rated tires.

Ccoworker has one in black. The paint on the hood looks a bit faded than the rest of the car. Seen quite a few of them with the hood faded much differently than the rest of the car.

1969 Yenko Camaro. GMC limited the Camaro to smaller V8s and a Pennsylvania Chevy dealer and racer worked out a deal with Chevy for him to buy 427 motors and install them in Camaros for drag racing. Shelby was a car manufacturer and built race cars and street cars.

Many years ago (mid 1960s) my friends grandfather retired to FL and bought himself a white mustang convertible with light blue leather seats. At the time I didn't really like Mustangs but it was a great looking car. Believe it had the 289.

Ten or twelve years later it was a bit beat and grandpa was giving it away for free to anyone who wanted it. Family had first shot at it but I was close enough to have a shot.

My friend and I were busy at the time so we couldn't steal the time to move it ourselves and we put some time into getting it trucked from south Florida to Ct.   and there was no good place for me to store/work on it

Personally I'll take a 67 or 68 convertible, but that's just personal taste.

I had a 68 Mustang convertible back in the early 80's.  It was a completely worn out POS, handled like a pig, took forever to stop (with manual drum brakes) had a steering wheel that looked like it belonged on a bus (manual steering) and didn't have air conditioning (I lived in Houston, so it was hot as hell) but it looked great.

I believe it is stock. Ford was already working with Shelby on the Cobra so they had a business relationship. The Mustang was a huge financial success but it was known as a secretary car and Ford wanted Shelby to build a high performance street car. Ford was really into its high performance years. They sent Shelby white fastback models to convert. After the final test car was approved Shelby started building street cars and the GT350R a track ready race car. Each of the street cars had a factory vin and a Shelby vin just above the factory number. It was Ford that initially started the GT350 program. The Ford factory warranty covered the initial chassis/parts and Shelby had a warranty for the conversion parts. If the car was ever raced both warranties expired. Some of the vintage car titles only listed the Shelby vin. So, yes I believe it is a stock car and built because Ford asked Shelby to do the work. The Shelby production floor was just an extension of the factory floor. Ford was already building the Mustang GT, mostly an appear package. Shelby had been working on a name for his conversion and one day he started counting his steps between one of his build shops to another and it was 350 steps so the name was GT350.

I do like the 66-67 Fairlane's but that's mostly because they kind/sorta look like a '65 GTO. I love the 65 GTO's but I've always been more of a Ford guy so the 66-67 Fairlane's were a decent compromise for me.

IDK if I can find it now but I just saw a '66 or '67 period commercial for the Chevelle were they comparing it to the GTO and Fairlane GT. They were making fun of the Fairlane GT and basically called is cheap imitation of the GTO that it wasn't even good enough to include the "O". Brand marketing for sure but it was funny.
