Hopefully one of you fine gentlemen can help me with this little problem.........

I have a home wireless network setup and I am trying to configure it so I can print from my laptop wirelessly over the network without manually plugging in the printer after unplugging it from my desktop.  I would also like to be able to share files between my desktop and laptop over the wireless network.

The setup is as follows.......
Cable modem plugged into a Microsoft wireless router that is plugged into a new desktop running Vista 32 bit.  I have a Laptop running XP.

So far I have been able to connect to the desktop from the laptop and access the shared folder.  However I have not been able to access the laptop from the desktop because it keeps asking for a login name/password.  I tried everything I could think of, including setting up a new user account on the laptop, but nothing worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of XP are the desktop and laptop running?

Simple File Sharing or with permissions?

My guess is the Desktop runs XP Home so uses simple and the Laptop uses XP Pro with permissions set up. You can right click on the Laptops shared folder and look under Shared Permissions to see if the Desktop user name and password is listed. My guess is it's not there and needs to be added for it to connect.
