I am looking for a scope for my FIL's AR. It has a flat top with a 20" barrel.  We are looking for one of the scope specifically made for 223.  Any suggestions?

Picked up a Nikon 223 scope the other day... It's the 3x9 power. I like it a lot!

EXCELLENT scope for the money. The Nikon M-223 is also good, but is a little pricier. What's your spending threshold, and what does he want to use it for? If he's going for more of a precision setup, SWFA, Bushnell and Leupold have some good options around 10x.

ETA: This one is also quite good, and more compact than the 1-4x. https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_3X_Compact_Scope_PAC3X_p/pac3x.htm

Burris Fulfield II, they are a very solid scope with reasonable prices.

Great suggestions, guys. Really.

Does anybody think we might ought to ask the OP what his FIL wants to use the rifle for, so as to qualify the type of optic that would best suit his needs?

Nahhhh....this is GD.

He said he was looking for an AR type scope for a 20" rifle. I doubt he wants a red dot on a 20''. Most AR type scopes are low power. I offered a 1X4 compact, lightweight scope.

What's the problem?

I like my Nikon Monarch African 1-4x. The P223 3-9x would be another good one. Nikon is a great value.

I like my Redfield Revenge 3-9x42. Not bad at all for $160

I don't know much about the revenge series other than made in the Phillipines, but the revolution is made in the same factory as Leupold in Oregon and carry leuoplds lifetime warranty. I ordered one yesterday, with the 30 dollar rebate offered in Dec and free shipping it only cost me 150
