We are on a cruise ship and last night, around midnight and about 13 hours from Costa Maya, I was on the balcony and spotted a light in the sky, off the port side and behind us.  It was just a white light and I first thought it was a star but then realized it was shifting around.  I watched for a minute or two and then called my wife out to verify it was actually moving and not an illusion.  No sooner than I said that, it started making larger movements.  Forward, backward, up, down and diagonal.  At one point it very quickly moved forward until it was parallel with our balcony.  A few times it went toward the water and disappeared then reappeared.

It was a hazy night and there were no other lights visible, anywhere.

I can only think of two mundane explanations:  A bird reflecting lights from the ship or a drone.  I saw it thru binoculars and it still looked like a white light.  The wind was so strong that the ship was shuddering as it plowed forward.  The point where it pulled up parallel was ridiculously fast acceleration, into that wind.

I have no idea how far away it was, but it didn't seem all that close.

I honestly can't think of a non-UAP explanation.

Didn't even try to photograph or video.  Duration was several minutes, maybe even 5+.

Possibly a regular drone getting pics/video of the ship at night?

I wouldn't expect a single white light on a commercial drone though, it should have red/green lights unless the operator needed to see it in the haze and added a brighter light.  The brighter light and the haze would have obscured the other lights.

Just throwing out mundane possibilities since I wasn't there to see it.  I completely understand the frustration of seeing "a light that does weird shit" and that's all you have to go on.  Every time a skeptic asks "why would space ships have lights?", my answer is "bright light is the ultimate camouflage at night because it ruins the naked eye AND night vision devices".  You can see a dark shape in the sky at night and possibly make out some detail but a light just becomes a light.

I've been seeing strange things a lot lately going out for my smoke and as always looking at the sky.  From a green orb type thing to bright white lights crossing the sky several nights in a row to just yesterday morning what appeared to be an airliner fly directly  overhead just at dusk under perfectly clear skies and appear and then just vanish in a matter of seconds like I've never seen before.  And I am an airplane junky.  Nothing really anomalous except maybe the plane vanishing but if the objects I saw crossing that were almost certainly in space should at some point lost there glow from the sun.  These went horizon to horizon and I've witnessed numerous starlink deployments and even got to watch the shuttle catching up to the ISS one night many years ago.  And at ac certain point they always fade from sight.

There are satellite-looking things up there that aren't satellites.  I've told the story before but I was watching 2 lights that I initially thought were sats, then a 3rd light approached them from the opposite direction on a parallel path.  When they were about to pass each other, they all came to a stop and the solo light slid over 90 degrees to align itself with the other 2, forming a straight line of 3 objects.  I was watching under NV and they were brighter than the other satellites and traveling in an unusual orbit.  No clue.

Any time we go on a cruise, I spend a LOT of time on the balcony and I saw a lot of weird shit in the dark, on this cruise.  Most of it I can likely attribute to mundane explanations.  One odd one was an identical light that just passed parallel to us, front to back.  It took about one second to travel the width of my field of vision.  I saw several "ghostly" shapes pass by, relatively close, but I assume these probably were birds.  I saw one hugely bright meteor that came from the Starboard side to the Port side, where I was.  It was directly overhead, completely white, very large and disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared.  I saw one white light appear up above us on the Port side and then disappear.  It was there long enough to notice it, before it was gone.

I kept thinking that somewhere, I've heard that it's common to see a lot of "weird shit" on the oceans.

I've seen something similar while staring up with NODs on. Seen some really weird shit under thermal at night as well.

There is so much shit in space now I know a lot is probably just that.  It's when one makes a sudden 90 degree turn or something you know for sure things are off.  I did witness one object do just that right after I purchased my Celestron telescope whenever that was and was just looking up by eye towards what I thought was probably Jupiter before attempting to look at it through the scope a little later.  I'm ashamed to admit I don't know the night sky and stars as well as I should or even as well as I once did.   And I've barely even used this amazing new telescope since purchasing it, mainly because my yard is so full of trees and also the damn mosquitos.  Hopefully the cooler weather and the trees shedding their leave will allow me to use it more.  Our club RC field which is only 8 miles away and pretty secure at least as far as needing a FOB to enter the front gate is actually an ideal location.  I've just been too lazy I guess to even do that.  I mainly purchased it to try and fine a star my wife had named after our deceased son if it's even visible from our hemisphere since I have never looked it up.

Standing outside again this morning I just witnessed two more strange objects right before sunrise.  Where I live looking out from my garage looking sorta NW I can watch as Fedex and other airliners line up constantly north of I-40 and follow that path towards Memphis.  It's a busy corridor to say the least especially around 3AM and a few other times.  But this morning I suddenly see a white light/orb/something traveling the opposite direction for just a short distance with no visible navigation lights for maybe 3 seconds and it vanishes.  Didn't appear like a satellite reflecting the sun and even if it was it should have been getting brighter since it was heading towards the sun. Then 1-2 seconds later in a nearby patch of sky a bright flash caught my eye.  Then a few seconds later following the east to west normal flight corridor a regular airliner plainly appears so it's easy to discern the difference.   This is happening for me way too be considered something normal happening, at least in my mind.  I've lived here for 35 years and always followed pretty much this same routine every single day during that time and only in the past few weeks have noticed this happening over and over.  I'm fairly convinced now we are not here alone and they may soon make themselves very obvious to us.

Could it be a smaller aircraft with its landing light on?  They have them on under 10k ft and off when they go above that altitude.  It's often so bright on a smaller plane that you can't see any other lights.  Also, depending on viewing distance and the amount of cloud/haze/fog, you can sometimes see nothing but that bright landing light and once it's off, it gives the illusion that the aircraft disappeared.

Start using FlightAware or ADS-B and you may find your mystery light.

Absolutely these are not aircraft.  I live 5 miles from a regional airport and see them all the time.  And the flash was like a huge flashbulb going off.  It definitely was not an airplane turning on and off a landing light.  Hard to describe otherwise.  Maybe something passing though dimensions or something.  I do not know.  I wish I had a reliable way to video this stuff.

I've seen the flashbulb effect a lot, so I get it.  The surface explanation is that it's a satellite that catches the sun just right to throw one quick flare your way but I can say from experience that's not always the case.

The flash doesn't cut it.  I can't even see the tail strobe on a helicopter or airplane until it's under a half mile away from me, so saying that's what I'm seeing from something several miles up just doesn't mesh.

Though I'm reminded of the photoflash bombs of WWII.  Story on them  IIRC The flash bomb charge was so intense it could light a newspaper on fire from 100 ft (maybe yards?) away, that's a proper crapload of light where I would believe seeing it from the surface all the way out to space, but not anything produced currently for marker lights or photography, I had a set of their Big flashes which could be mounted up in the bars of a gymnasium and light up Everything very nicely.   Over 300 Watt Seconds of light in a super tiny (thousandths) fraction of a second is a lot.   Then newspapers went digital and everybody sent phone photos in so no money and I sold them while still valuable.

I'm bored, so I decided to use Paint to illustrate our UAP sighting.  This is an actual photo from our balcony but it was dark when the sighting occurred.

1) The white dot shows approximately where the light was, from our perspective.

Attached File

2) The other white dots illustrate about how far it was moving when I first decided it actually was moving.  Each dot just represents an end-point, from the original position. I still wasn't sure it wasn't an illusion.

Attached File

3) After I had my wife come out to verify it was moving, the movements got larger.

Attached File

4)  The most compelling movement is illustrated here.  The movement from the original position to the center of our point of view took maybe one second, in very high headwinds.  The same amount of time to return to it's original position.

Attached File

5)  At this point, the movements became relatively small but were no longer linear.  Lots of curves and arcs, along with disappearing from view, as it got down to ocean level.

Attached File

Finally, it disappeared and was gone for good.

Attached File

I just showed this to my wife, to verify it's accuracy and she reminded me that near the end, a second white light appeared but we don't remember specifically what it did, only that it was moving, as well. We also think the second one was less distinct, like a bit out of focus.

I must admit I'm somewhat jealous of your view!  That is BEAUTIFUL!!  I think it's starting to be abundantly clear there is something in our oceans (maybe always has been?) that we aren't really aware of.  I recently saw a report about some website that people (civilian boaters) can report seeing things such as green or blue lights traveling under the surface and such and there were already 9,000 such sightings reported with I suppose video evidence or photos to support the claims.  I had never heard  of the sight and don't remember what it was called.  There is a lot of unexplored water out there and the USO phenomena does seem to be gaining traction all over the media.

The balcony view is my prime motivation for every cruise.  It's just amazing to sit there and chill.  Often at night, there are other cruise ships at the 7:00 and 11:00 positions, which is pretty sweet.

Im not sure what you are asking.  To us, it looked completely like a white light that was a little hazy, which I think was the weather condition at the time.  It looked even more like a wight light thru binoculars.

Just in time Jack talks about Enigma and the 9,000 USOs.  And much more of course.  The Halloween house is out of this world fantastic lol
Also the latest Ross Coulthart video with James Fox is a must watch!  James has a new movie which is sort of Moment of Contact 2 coming out very soon and he has some amazing new witnesses of the Brazil crash and alien contacts from 1999.  It's worth the hour of your time with all the new info.

This has an interesting video on it.   Looks like a rocket retrieval with the  nose cone downward?   I don't see a heavy line to it so I'm guessing that and helicopter or something are above frame?

3) After I had my wife come out to verify it was moving, the movements got larger.

4)  The most compelling movement is illustrated here.  The movement from the original position to the center of our point of view took maybe one second, in very high headwinds.  The same amount of time to return to it's original position.

5)  At this point, the movements became relatively small but were no longer linear.  Lots of curves and arcs, along with disappearing from view, as it got down to ocean level.

Finally, it disappeared and was gone for good.

I just showed this to my wife, to verify it's accuracy and she reminded me that near the end, a second white light appeared but we don't remember specifically what it did, only that it was moving, as well. We also think the second one was less distinct, like a bit out of focus.

Was what you saw a white dot or something from  the ID card in OP?

I thought this thread had the big sheet of typical sighting appearances but it seems from what has been released so far, that 90% or more of the sightings are just orbs, orbs which we can't make with current college level physics and engineering, but can't build "just orbs".  I'm hoping they open up something more interesting here, they started out sort of strong and are now just kind of dangling.

Either way, what you saw matches some of the videos we've seen put out by the .gov and stories from other people.  Not super earth moving but there.

When you saw it, did you feel an urge to look in that direction or did you just happen to catch it out of the corner of your eye?    Did you feel like there's was a sudden "pool of knowledge" around you where it was like you could ask/think anything, just thinking in your head and answers would show up?  I am not explaining that very good but sort of like when people have cameras and forget to take pictures, I can see that as a way they are distracted, it's like an overwhelming "new think and all the thoughts in your head sort of fade to background as this 'thing' suddenly is using all your brainpower.    That's happened to me once but I've never head the telepathy beyond the feeling calm and like in a library where if I think of anything the answer is right there which is pretty cool in it's own right but doesn't happen continually, happens without sightings as well but I think the effects somehow related.

I'm not sure whether I felt an urge to look or just caught it out of the corner of my eye.  I don't recall the "pool of knowledge" effect, but I definately felt like it was responding to me and my wife.  The movements were very small at first and when I asked my wife to come out to verify, the movements got a lot larger and as we continued discussing what we were seeing, It did what I would consider instant acceleration and pulled up exactly parallel to our balcony and then back to it's orginal position.  It then proceeded to do all sorts of crazy stuff, including appearing to enter and exit the water and was joined by a second object, before both disappeared from view.

I don't remember if it was the same cruise or the next one, I was sitting on the balcony at night (I do that a lot, on cruises), thinking about this stuff and Pansmermia in particular, when a huge, very bright meteor streaked overhead.  Probably coincidence but it was also one of two meteors I've seen in several years.

Cool!  Do you know where your ship was at that time?  How far out to sea?

Totally unrelated to UAP, but last night, I dreamed that someone mentioned/asked about the final scene in The Last American Virgin, where the main character sees his best friend kissing the girl he's infatuated with.  In the dream, I commented that the scene still sparks a huge emotional reaction in me.  This morning, a few minutes after 3:00 am, that exact scene popped up on my Facebook feed with the caption "Who else still hasn't gotten over this scene?".  I have not looked up anything about that movie, listened to any songs from that movie or even talked about that movie and/or that scenario, yet the exact scene, in the exact context, shows up minutes after I woke up from a sleep in which the same thing happened in a dream.

I took note of the time and we were about 13 hours from Costa Maya.  The ships generally travel around 25 mph and I have no idea how long they spend decelerating and maneuvering to the dock.  Ships out of Galveston have to cut back to the SW to go around a peninsula, so I don't know how that translates into miles.  I would say a minimum of 100 miles out, maybe as much as 200, or so?

Way the heck out there.  Thanks.    I used to fish offshore in a smallish boat in the northeast canyons.  80 - 120 miles out.   Spent many a night out there.  Never saw anything cool like that though.  Lots of whales and marine life, but nothing unexpected.
