How many of you arfcomers will NOT buy a new Sig P320 due to the Accidental Discharge rumor, but were never aware of this 2022 factory video showing a complete factory upgrade & overhaul of the sear & trigger mechanisms making an AD virtually impossible since 2022? The anti SIG-P320 threads pop up here all the time in arfcom so that I would get blue in the face trying to tell ya'll in each thread about the upgrade to no avail. Thought I'd finally open a thread with the Sig Factory video to hear & see about the upgrades for yourselves. ![]() P320 Upgrade Guide |
| Sig has lost all of my trust in their line of pistols. If they did a recall and went ten years without any more issues, I would begin to reconsider, but currently, if someone GAVE ME a Sig 320 I would sell or trade it to someone as quickly as possible. I sure as hell wouldn't even let it in my house loaded though. |
|
You mean like the last "upgrade" that eliminated their problems? I had a P320 with several caliber x-change kits to build it a couple dozen different ways. I sent in the gun and all my slides for the "upgrade". Then I sold every single one of them when covid happened. That panic was a great opportunity to sell all your used gun junk for at least as much as you paid for it. |
|
Have you read any of the actual comments about the current issue? It has nothing to do with their drop-firing issues. The striker safety isn't reliable, leaving only the sear engagement to prevent the gun from firing. You're either lazy in your research or intentionally obfuscating the issue. |

That video is just describing the "Voluntary Upgrade Program", which started in 2017. https://athlonoutdoors.com/article/sig-voluntary-upgrade-p320-pistol-drop/ The video may have been posted in 2022, but the program began 5 years prior. https://www.sigsauer.com/blog/p320-upgrade-program-information |

I just don’t dig striker fired pistols. Sig da/sa are great and one of my main pocket carry pistols is the p290rs, it’s like a semiauto j frame. I’ve been lately carrying HK more than Sigs, but the p228 and p225a1 are 2 of the best carry 9mms ever made. I never thought the p320 could just go off, but I always believed the trigger was too short/light for my needs, other than maybe competition. |

I sure as hell wouldn't even let it in my house loaded though. This, only SP2022 or earlier hammer models(P2xx). I own several hammer pistols(220/226/239/etc) but will never own a newer Sig(US) product ever. Even if it was free. |

I bought 2 Sigs in the last 10 or so years. Neither was a 320, but both ended up being turds. That made me conclude that Sig is just a marketing/lifestyle company and I would not buy any more of their guns. The 320 shake awake fiasco made me realize that they are actually a very unscrupulous marketing/lifestyle company. I will not buy anything with their name on it now. I just don't see a reason to do so when there are plenty of better options available. |

I have 2 320s, love the guns. The drop safe issue should have been a recall. I sent both of mine in, even though I could not induce a malfunction from striking it with a rubber mallet at any angle with a lot of force. I'm not aware of any of the "gone off" guns being able to replicate the AD/ND. Thankfully much smaller offerings are on the market and my Sigs are now range guns... Along with my Glocks, S&Ws, CZs, HKs, SAs, and 1911s. |
| Prior to the day it all "ending", I would've still liked to buy a Sig, just not a 320. After that, I'd never buy anything Sig again. I'll keep the RDS's & ammo I have, no sense in throwing them in the garbage like some people do, but I just won't buy anymore of their products. They can feel free to call me anti 2A all they want. |
I guess that's their version of HK's gray room? I love my old Sigs but until they fire that PoS Cohen, quit making crappy MIM parts in India and admit that there's a problem and actually do something about it, the only Sigs I'm buying are older versions. There's a 365 in the safe downstairs and it rust if you look at it funny.

They have had some really good sales on the 365's lately. I'm guessing it has to do with the 320 and sales being slow now. I know the 365 has had a few issues but it's not a bad gun. If the magazines weren't so expensive I would buy another one. I have a ghm9 lower that takes sig mags and a few mags just sitting in a box. I would sell for cheap because I'll probably never buy a 320 but if I have problems with the gun I'd probably have to have the factory lower rather than my scorpion mag aftermarket. I probably have a rew hundred bucks in mags I'll never use but I can probably sell just the mags. I'm not adding anything to the topic but I needed a place to ramble about my sig 320 thoughts and how this all effects me. |

Yes, there were issues with the previous production P320's. But you have to understand that the latest dramatic reports or video reported as a "current" accidental discharge can be caused from yesterday's production P320 and NOT a post 2022 pistol. I haven't witnessed a single accidental discharge video in which the victim or host of the video confirms or even mentions that it was a new post 2022 pistol responsible for the latest sensational news. I'd like to see the sales receipt or the SN# of the pistol in these "current" dramatic episodes of ADischarge. Until then I think it's the hype and the reputation from the old production line of P320's that still persists. |

Quoted: The upgrades shown in that 2022 video are clear to see and are standard production in the pistols sold today. Hard to imagine Sig goes thru all the upgrades to eliminate the problem and the problem still isn't fixed. I think it's the million old P320's out there in circulation that from time to time are still making the news. . Yes, there were issues with the previous production P320's. So what make you think 2022 guns are immune? |

Quoted: Will never own a Sig product after this debacle. A perfect example is the S&W CSX; When the the first edition was released, it was a turd. I loved the feel of that mini-1911 but wouldn't buy it due to the gawd awful trigger reset. Now they have fixed it and I can't wait to buy it! However, I concede a clickity trigger reset doesn't sour one's opinion of a gun like will rumors of AD's that cause perforated scrotums or holes in the head. |

I think we're beyond the rumors on AD's at this point. Calling people anti gunners doesn't help |

They should have done a consumer product safety recall. If there’s a pre upgrade gun out there it’s on Sig to find it and fix it. Treat it like an automobile safety recall. |

The video you're referencing is an unlisted video detailing the changes from the upgrade program. The Montville PD pistols were post upgrade p320s. SIG blamed the gun not being fully seated in the holster, blaming what they believed was an SLS hood as being down, despite it being part of a CAT tourniquet. They're now saying the discharge was caused by a handcuff key getting into the holster from another officer, despite the officer not having handcuff keys in the position they referenced. Multiple users on here have replicated the test for their striker safeties and the striker safety failed on numerous occasions. Their pistols were post upgrade. SIG lied about not being able to get their guns to fire in their vibration testing. Attached File |

If I got a P320 for free I'd trade it for two packs of Marlboro Lights, two cans of Modelo Chelada, and a couple of scratchers. Any other SIG, hard pass. I have nothing for a gun maker who Arocks people. And this is speaking as someone who is wearing the P226 that I bought for the academy in the nineties right now and paid for SIG armorer school out of my own pocket. Mistakes can be fixed and forgiven, but lies, evasions, and Arocking are pretty much forever to me. |
|
My 320 went in for the voluntary upgrade. After that I put a Wilson frame on it. I didn't buy it to carry, so the alleged AD problems are not a concern. That said, I'm really not interested in any more Sigs. I have a P226 and a .357 Sig P239 and I'll just keep what I have. |
