To all, In one of my recent threads, several guys replied and used the acronym SHTF. They mentioned it along with having lots of mags & ammo, etc. I just learned what this acronym means...and I'd like to ask you guys what your definition of "when the shit hits the fan" is. Democrats in office? Katrina? Lawlessness in general? Zombie war? In-laws visiting? I have to admit...deep down...one of the reasons I bought my Bushy is 'cause I want to be ready for SHTF. But even I don't know what that is.  Ok. Let me hear it. |

Did you see the movie HEAT? do you drink Heineken? but seriously-I would think it was definitely SHTF if you were in the proximity of Katrina. I think some on this site (from what i have read) think that someday our society will completely collapse and that US troops (or UN/French troops) will be sent around to shoot/take all the weapons from US citizens. Then everybody will dress up in camo, grab their BOB (Bug out bag) and head for the hills. Assuming of course that the highways are able to be used and nobody notices them taking flight in their camo clothes. |

SHTF comes in many flavors. Extended illness is SHTF at my house. Firearms have not been required yet.  A lot of the SHTF talk you here is TEOTWAWKI talk, but the poster dosen't know the difference. I prepare for TEOTWAWKI, which is possible, and keep an eye out for SHTF, which is more likey to come along. |
