Hello all, lately the ringing in my ears has been getting quite bad, and actually very annoying. Is there anything I can take that will relieve me of this misery? ![]() ( And yes I do use hearing proction ) |
Honestly if it keeps getting worse, I would go see an ENT Dr. or an audiologist. Definitely sounds like Tinnitus. |

I eat chocolate by the handful on a daily basis, you think that might have something to do with it? As for coffee and soda, I don't touch the stuff. As far as my physical shape, I'm good to go. I'm about 5'/9" in height, and weigh in at about 168Lbs, and actually look like I'm 27 instead of 37. ( I do shoot an awful lot of handgun though, maybe even more now than my AR's. |

People your (our) age if otherwise healthy, have probably already been exposed to enough amplified Rock music to permanently damage our hearing. Shooting or other industrial exposure sure doesn't help. The next time you get a checkup, make sure to mention the tinnitus to your MD. It would be best to eliminate another medical issue or find out sooner than later about DM or HBP. If cost is an issue look for a free screening around your AO. High fevers and other infections can also cause your symptoms. Most adults haven't had a hearing exam since the 8th grade. It may be adult loss or from exposure/trauma. Get a pair of custom plugs or a set of premium plugs that come in a case. You will be more likely to carry and wear them that way. Use them with power tools, concerts, mowing the lawn, etc. Give your ears a break as often as possible. Much hearing loss is caused by continuous exposure to noise levels that you probably wouldn't consider "loud" vs. +110 db transients. Even wind noise while driving can cause it. If you live in an urban area, the daily ambient noise exposure will begin to accumulate by middle age. If it is persistent and affecting you on a daily basis don't ignore it. Go see a doctor and get it checked. Colonel Hurtz |

I did have a hearing test in the plant that I worked in about 9 months ago, and they did inform me of a hearing loss condition. Besides doing a ton of shooting, I have also rode and raced 2 stroke motto cross dirt bikes for yearssssssss, and I'm sure that didn't help either. Not to mention the constant use of power equipment. |
NO caffeen NO shooting I think I'd just dryup and blow away maybe even die or something worse! |
Listen to the Col. Get your BP checked. Go down to the local drug store and have it checked for free. Do it several times. If it is even 'borderline high', go to the Doc, and have him check it. I had tinnitus, and didn't know why. I was in great shape (just out of the Army) and felt great. Went to the doc, and found that my BP was extremely high. Change in diet, ie less salt and caffeine dropped it down to normal, and the ringing went away. High Blood Pressure is a silent killer. Take care of yourself. |
Do you use it, and does it work? Looks like it;s similar to something called "Ringstop".' |

I went shooting Sunday May 6th with inadequate hearing protection, and my ears are still ringing today.....It is slowly getting better, but it is still there. I am finally used to it enough where I can sleep the whole night through now. hey Lay off the loud noises for a while, and take it easy. I sure hope my ringing stops, I learned a very valuable lesson! |
I've had the whole range of tests, including an MRI, and lucked out getting into a VA study on tinnitus masking. If I ever shoot myself, it will be due to tinnitus. |

There was a report a while ago about (IIRC) adult stem cells repairing hair cells in mice. One day, maybe. I'll wait, though. Fix my sister MS first. |
For me it was working on the flightdeck with just muff and no EAR plugs on the inside. |
