My son and I are working on a 63 ford fairlane. Are there any online sources for tune-up specs. The engine is a 260 V8 all original and I'm looking for the proper point gap (dwell angle) and where the timing should be set. I tried to search google but I couldn't find anything. Also any good old ford forums you know of would be appreciated.

Thanks

A guy I work with has a lot of old Ford shop manuals and such from his days with a '67 Galaxie, if I don't find it online somewhere, I'll ask him tomorrow.

Okay, I gave him a call and asked, he says set the point gap at .016", unless the distributor shaft is worn and sloppy, then go a little tighter on your points.  Gap the plugs at .028-.032", try 6-8 degrees initial timing without advance.

Thanks Quintin, I appreciate the help. I don't think the shaft will be too sloppy, the engine only has 47,000 miles on it.

plug gaps are always .035 on the old fords, point gap is usually .017  .018    timing was always 6 degrees below....but then the gas was alot different....so you'll most likely want to go towards 10 degrees below...use an electronic ignition, and try different settings to find an optimum for your particular environment,...carb settings have a huge part too
