Giving them tax incentives is just fucking stupid. The local jurisdictions should be making these data centers give up millions to the local communities. |

Too many people are ignorant to the fact that compute power and data processing is the way of the future. The country that has the most of that will be the most dominate and most capable of controlling world affairs. If the US wants to remain the world leader, it must win this race. To put it another way, this is almost like a Manhattan project moment, and too many people are screaming, "Why are we developing nukes? They're too loud and are causing prices to go up!" |

Now that we’ve established that fact, let’s do an exercise: Say you give them a tax incentive or deferment to entice them into coming to your state. After that incentive runs out you now secured a multi billion dollar revenue stream that will not be going anywhere. Then there are states run by people like you who can’t understand that basic concept. They will continue to decline in both revenue and infrastructure compared to the states that incentivized data centers. |

| There's like a dozen of them being built in my smaller town. Even coming from commercial construction, I was amazed at the sheer size and resources of the sitework. It is staggering, i've never seen anything like it and I've been on some pretty big jobsites before. |

My taxes at every level haven't gone down and in most cases have gone up. Plus the strain on the grid and the water supply. I have built $ billion+ projects in the refining/ petrochemical/ midstream industry. We routinely receive tax breaks. Tax breaks don't mean we pay no taxes, it simply means we pay less. Even a 50% reduction still leaves us paying taxes on a half billion dollar asset. When the tax breaks run out, which they always do, we pay property taxes like everyone else except our tax bill is orders of magnitude higher. We sure as hell don't abandon a billion dollar asset that took three years to develop, design, permit, and build. |
