The end of my 9 year SWAT career has come       It wasn't fun anymore.

I started a new job as a detective Sgt. a few months ago, a job which needs more attention, but I will still be involved in search warrants.

My kids are getting older and need more attention.

I was starting to have "philosophical differences" with the team leader and it would not end well for me. I was about to get promoted to squad leader and this would have meant constant infighting.

I'm going to miss it but it is for the best.  I have uploaded a new avatar but deep down I know I will always have "one ass to risk".

Besides, Vic Mackey will piss off the bashers. If someone else is using it let me know and I will change it, but I don't believe I have seen it yet.

Edit: On second thought Vic Mackey is not a good idea.

9 years on SWAT?  Who could argue with that, good luck in the new gig... stay safe.

I retired late in 2005 and I still miss the jazz.  However, I knew "Paps" was getting a bit old for it all.

As to the avatar...

In my eyes he will always be the nerd "Commish" to me.  Shaving his head and acting like he was on steroids just never fit.  I always said casting him in that part after him being the "Commish" was close to the same as casting that part with Peewee Herman!  But then again... much of those that watched were young enough that they never saw him as the "Commish".

Anyway... good luck with the new job!!!

1* still applies!

You did the honorable thing. I feel for you, I recently was promoted on our swat team to Squad leader and you start to see the conflicts right away. My team commander and I see eye to eye, but one of the other squad leaders - which due to seniority - will be the next team commander, doesn't. What is sad the majority of the team are glad I was promoted, but they would like to see me be the next team commander - we will see.

Better to leave on your terms then someone else's. Does that mean you have to turn in all your swat toys?

You'll never get that time back with your kids so spend it with them now.

Already turned in my FA lower.

I have to meet with them this week to clear the rest of my hand receipt.

It s for the best....but I am still torn.  It was tough to watch them do a warrant the other day and not be with them.

Well said.
Look at it this way, you're letting someone else the opportunity to have fun
