Having a problem with a Windows 7 laptop I'm fixing for someone. It had some pretty nasty malware that I was able to remove. However, now that the malware is gone, something is buggered up in the network stack. DNS isn't working (can't browse or ping sites by name). You can nslookup domains and they fire back the correct IP. I've tried manually resetting TCPIP and Winsock manually, but no dice.
Suggestions? |

remove the network card from device manager and restart the computer.

Also check the HOSTS file in system32/drivers/etc. link |
| No go... I used LSPFix to get DNS working to the point that I could browse the internet. However, something is screwing with Windows Update and it errors out. I also can't PING websites from the command line (unknown host name), but can browse to them. I've tried resetting TCPIP/Winsock/etc. |
