Here's the scoop. My buddy and his g/f gave us $200 cash at our wedding about 3 years ago. He's getting married in 2 weeks, but we can't make b/c the wife will be 37 weeks pregnant and the wedding is like 4 hours away. If we were attending I'd match their gift to us of $200. Having planned and paid for our wedding by ourselves, $100 is my minimum wedding gift.
Definitely sending a gift still. Question is...if I send $100 instead of $200 does that make me a cheapskate??? |

Yes it does IMHO. The fact that you even need to think about it moreso. The fact that you need to ask the question on the internet? Seals the deal. Pony up cheapass! |

Give him $250, you aren't going to be there, so you don't have to spend money on a trip, you don't have to pay for clothes (no, your wife wouldn't have been OK with wearing something she already had, even if she said she would), and all of the little stuff that comes up on an overnight trip. I hate weddings, I would gladly over gift in exchange for not having to go. |

Wedding gift dilemma Thought you were going to ask advice on getting a really cool gift. Something that would remind them of you for the rest of their lives. Something unforgettable, useful, and unique. Guess I forgot this is GD . And you were just establishing yourself as an unimaginative cheapskate! sent a card and you won't have to worry about them expecting anything from you in the future. Then again they probably realize that already. |
