Hive I ask the great minds of GD
7400 in 30.06 is it worth 500.00 with 170 rounds of ammo? I had a Rem 742 in 30.06 and it was a jamomatic . Speak old wise ones. |

I bought one brand new at K-Mart in 1991.
It functioned fine for the three or four hundred rounds I put through it. Got rid of it because it walked groups toward 10 o'clock worse than a Mini-14. Also hate the design of the gas system. Once you get the handguard off, and see what its about, you'll think the Kalashnikov is positively elegant and dainty. |

Nope, don't waste your money...For that money you can buy a good bolt gun for your kids elk gun...
ETA: Also, 30-06 wouldn't be my first choice in an elk gun, Something like 7mm Rem mag, 300 Rem mag etc etc. I'm not knocking the ole 06, it would certainly get the job done, just not my first choice. |

Didn't the 7400 correct a few problems? Quoted:

You could do better. My opinion was the earlier 740s were a little better than the 7400s Didn't the 7400 correct a few problems? I think it was supposed to , but both were inaccurate guns. They were ok but if I had my choice in a hunting gun I would do better for $500 |

LOL, I had the 10rd mag but no stock |
