I'm moving and can't take my bench with me as it is too big to get out of the basement and I covered most of the screws with putty. So, I'm going to build another NRMA Reloading Bench. The only change I made was to omit the doors on the top shelving area.
This is a nice bench that is very sturdy and requires minimal tools to assemble. My local lumber yard cut everything to size for me at no additional cost, and even delivered it at no charge. The only cutting I had to do was for the notches in the 2x6s and the 4x4s. Everything else was screwed together with a drill except for the carriage bolts. It's heavy enough to support sizing of cases but can always be bracketed to the floor, if necessary. I use mine as a general purpose workbench with a vise lagged on the left and a press lagged on the right. Last time I built it (3 years ago), materials ran a bit under $200. That's comparable to many of the workbench kits you see from Sears, Costco, and Harbor Freight, but the NRMA bench is generally bigger and more robust. It's a one day project, two if you stain and/or finish it. Enjoy the plans. |
