I need to know how to force the NIC on a Redhat 8 box to 100/FDX.  I've been using Solaris and I did it on Solaris by making an entry in the /etc/system file.

How would I do this on Redhat?

Thanks in advance!

Bosox hasn't been back for an answer so I'll provide a generic answer. ([:D] got to close the ticket on this one)

The quick way to test your card is to run modprobe -v (drivername)

Woops.  Yeah, i fixed it.  A coworker of mine suggested:

mii-tool -F 100baseTx-FD eth0

and that did.  I put that statement in the rc.local file and all seems well.

thanks!

Gaa! Slowaris people and RC init scripts. [;)]

Glad you got it fixed.

You wouldn't happen to know why the Nvidia driver for Mandrake 9 is blowing up my 9.1rc2 kde install would you. I've messed with the GLX files until my eyes are bleeding.

Sheesh.

About that Nvidia issue - I've got it working here, but it's on Redhat.  I was talking to someone today who mentioned something about this being an issue.  I'll ask him for more details and get back to you.

And, as for that SLOWaris statement.  I will say this.... The Redhat 8 install on the test server at the office compiles code faster than anything I've seen in a while.  Now, if I could just get over the security issues.....

Ouch [:D]

solved the Nvidia thing... use the older x server included with the install. RM GLX files that came with the install. Install Nvidia GLX files. Install driver. Run X config again.

The frame rates are about 10x what I got with the X driver.
