Just got a red light camera ticket in the mail. The kicker, it wasn't me. It's my old truck that apparently the new owner hasn't bothered to get registered in his name yet. The ticket is dated two weeks after I sold the truck. I guess DMV here isn't on the ball with processing release of liability notices either. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a pain in the ass to clear up? |

| I got tickets, a tow notice, missed registration, and finally a notice that my old vehicle was going to be sold at auction for fees owed. The first three or four notices I dutiful sent them a copy of the release of liability and transfer of title. When it came to the auction notice I sent in a big fuck you and kiss my ass. Did here anything after that and I'll never sell my car to another private party again. |

Never understood states where after the title of the vehicle has been transferred, the plates of the seller are left on. Here, they are taken off and turned into the DMV. Uh, I've always removed them when I sold the vehicle ...signed and dated bill of sale will get you to the DMV to re-register, insure and re-plate the vehicle? |

Did here anything after that and I'll never sell my car to another private party again. I got an notice to auction for a truck I had sold a couple of years previous. The guy somehow never registered it and managed to drive it for a couple of years with expired tags. Outstanding towing and storage fees were ~$400. I was tempted to go see if the truck was worth picking back up. Decided to pass, nothing ever came of it. Release of liability had been submitted the day after I sold it. |
