I went to a Red Wing store last night and searched for about a half of an hour and couldn't find 1 pair of boots made in the U.S.A. What the F*#K is this country becoming?

Are Rocky's still made in the USA?

I've got a pair of made in USA just bought last month Red Wings

you clearly weren't looking in the right place
12/18/2009 4:29:27 AM EDT
[#3]
I think both Rocky and Red Wing only make some of their boots in the USA but most over seas.
12/18/2009 4:31:38 AM EDT
[#4]
I have some daners (2 pair) made in the USA.
12/18/2009 4:33:29 AM EDT
[#5]
You want comfortable boots?  Redbacks all the way.  Australians know how to make a comfortable work boot I tell ya!
12/18/2009 4:33:45 AM EDT
[#6]
Their Worx boots they are called are made overseas. The regular redwings that are more expensive are made here in USA. go to another store or look harder at the one you were at

My last pair of Super Soles were made in the USA....
12/18/2009 4:38:24 AM EDT
[#8]
The stitch-down sole Danners are made in the US.  The molded sole Danners are made in China.
12/18/2009 4:52:31 AM EDT
[#9]
My 914's were made in teh USA. just bought 3 pairs.

Bridgeport equipment and tool has the absolute lowest prices.  $175 shipped for 914's can't be beat, especially when they're $275 here locally.

They are not what they used to be.

No, they are not.

Still good, but not the gold standard like they used to be.

I just bought a pair of US made Redwings.

The store doesn't carry a lot of the US made ones any more.  I went to my local store and asked for my model (8113).  They said they don't stock "that line" and I'd have to special order it.  Had plenty of non-US made ones in the store though –– and the price didn't seem that much cheaper!!!

I ordered my US made Red Wings from Papashoe.com.  They are running a 15% off promotion (search for a coupon code on FatWallet.com) and their prices are generally well below retail and include free shipping as well.

Go buy some "Whites", they will be the last boots you will ever need.  Made in the USA, rebuildable, as comfy as it gets.

I have my first pair of Redwings, and have been wearing them for a year and a half.  They are by FAR the best, and most comfortable, boots I have ever worn.  After 1.5 years and doing nothing to them, I stood in a creek last month and my feet stayed DRY.  I was shocked.  Every other pair of "waterproof" boots I've owned weren't––after a week.  These are GREAT boots––and the tag on the inside of the tongue says "Made in USA."
12/18/2009 9:26:07 AM EDT

My 2231 pecos are made in the usa. I wont be cought dead in any other boot offshore!!! This is my nineth pair in eleven years.

hahaha wtf is it with you guys and Red Wings.....those are laughable when we see people sporting those...the cheapo boots that tear up your feet and fall apart.

Redwings =Fail
Whites boots/Nicks=win

Maybe redwings are  nice if you go out in the back yard and cut firewood once a month......hahahaha thats about all they are good for. If you have a real job where you are on your feet all day working in them for weeks at a time....it is an auto fail. Feet are your money makers / thread
And I am assuming we are speaking of full leather 8+ inch boots/ non steel toe standard work boots.

Just FYI Carhartt has a line of boots in the Red Wing stores that are made here and carry Red Wings warranty.  They are also made by Red Wing and are half the price and are IMO ten times better.

Carhartt FTMFW!

Lets just say, one has a job where you are flown out on a ship into a remote area to fight a wildland fire for weeks at a time with little or no suppport, your god damn boots are the last thing you want to give out on you. So by eliminating an area of potential failure at a time when you need your gear to work the most, you can focus on your job, not your shitty boots/ fucked up feet. If a guy gets his feet fucked up from rookie boots, it changes a lot of factors, it can put a whole 20 man crew in danger in the hole. We are literally talking life or death here. Boots are no joke.

11 inch water proof steel toe pull ons. They are hard wearing, comfortable as all get out, and keep your feet dry unless the the water is 12 inches deep. You obviously don't know what you are talking about, unless you're wearing steel toes, you probably aren't working.

Some are, some aren't. If you want "made in the USA" you will have to look a bit harder.

Just like the venerable American shoe manufacturer Danner, they a line that is "made in the PRC," and one that is "made in the USA."

Many of the "made in the USA" boots are made of foreign materials, with the possible MIL-spec boots, they specified that it be made of USA materials.(ie leather).

very nice ^^^^ I guess you are an expert indeed....Yes in fact you are correct, I wear those hooker boots. Personally I dont care for that leather color, I had some special boots built for me in Pink with hello kitty logos on the tongues. I thought I could hide that fact on the internet with the GD folks, but i was way off base. You are in fact a boot expert. Now go prance around in your really cool comfy redwings that are made in USA yata yata yata.

I worked at the WTC Site during the Recovery and the Clean Up in 2001-2004 . The Herman's and the Timberland boots would literally fall to pieces in that environment. Since 2001 , I have bought only two pairs of Redwings because I re-sole them when they wear out.

They are by far the Best and most Comfortable Construction Boots I have ever owned in my 20 Years of construction experience.

Great Boots Since 1905

What kind of saw do you run[/quote]

I dont run saw on fires, but the saw teams (3 of them) use 044s  with lightweight bars, and bored out. A lot of guys do different things with their saws, i didn't know how much customization you could do with them.

I've got a pair of Wellco Desert Tan temperate weather boots.

Made in the USA, and they wear better than the Red Wings I used to own.
