So, my toenail, big toe, left foot, has recently developed ridges.  Four to be exact.  One large ridge running vertically down the nail, two smaller ones to the left and another to the right.  Two weeks ago this toenail was completely smooth.  So is this life threatening?  Could these things be caused by some strange disease that will take my last breath suddenly and without notice?  Please tell me these things aren't going to kill me.

Or is it the next evolutionary step in complete tacticality?  Maybe they formed so that my foot would be more aerodynamic while kicking ass.  Maybe I am now a mutant.  My mutant ability is a super fast left foot.  Don't know what good that will do me, but hey, gotta be worth something, right?

Or maybe it's just ribbed for her pleasure?

Last I recall that's caused by fungus under the cuticle. Damndably difficult to get rid of, and apparently not a real problem unless you're a slob and let it get out of hand.

I of course could be wrong and your toenail will start eating you in your sleep.

Ok, I'm cutting the cuticle off.  Bastard isn't going to get me in my sleep.

+1 on the difficulty factor. I stubbed my big toe about 3 years ago, tore the nail right off. It grew back OK but I got a fungal infection under it. I went to the doc, he trimmed, put meds on it, taped it up & gave me instructions on keeping it clean... months went by, no help. Then he gave me some meds to take internally. These meds are reputed to be hard on the liver; he told me "No acetimonphen for you." The infection hasn't cleared up. I'm going back for a 3rd round.

DON'T let it get out of control! See a doc.

OH MY GOD!!! There's blood everywhere.  Who knew a toe could bleed that much.  Going to get the first aid kit.  My landlords gonna be pissed.  Anyone know how to wash blood out of carpet?

You are imagining things.  Nails grow from the base out and take months.  That ridging is from changes/damage to the base.

Now severe malnutrition can cause banding.  And too much selenium (Seleyn Blue) can cause them to fall off completely.  And your hair too.

For the blood on carpet, cold water (ice cube), then hydrogen peroxide followed by bakinig soda and water.  Shop vac.

Toenail fungus is yellow.

Thank God, no!  Mine run the other way, and they're straight, not all jacked up bumpy and shit.

No chance of it eating me tonight, thanks to Mr. Benchmade that cuticle is gone, so long fungus, nothing to live under now.

I'm not imagining anything.  This is serious.  This thing could have eaten me in my sleep had I not taken drastic measures.

Could be that, which reminds me I should go eat something.

Thanks, will that take it out if its not fresh?  I don't have those things on hand.  Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide I can get tomorrow, shop vac might take a couple days to fenagle that from someone.

This couldn't have spread to the other toes could it?  I hope not.  I don't want to stay up all night, keeping vigil on the rest of the little bastards in case they try to eat me.
