Cool stuff. No Ford 400 but regardless I'm screwed if it falls on me.

It shouldn't be much more than a 351 Cleveland. They're based on the same block (different bore & stroke, iirc). Heck, the 351M was nothing more than a Cleveland with 400 heads bolted on.

The 400 and 351M were decked 1" higher than a Cleveland. The 400 is a stroked 351C and the M is a destroked 400 (via the crank stroke) IIRC.

Hmm....so I could throw a 400 crank in that 351M I have sitting around?

Thanks for the clarification.

Crank and pistons. http://www.tmeyerinc.com/ will sell you a forged set plus other options. Converting a M to a 400 is the best thing you can do to it. You should also put in an aftermarket cam or straight-up timing set since the stock one has a ridiculous amount of retard in it.

Cool, thanks. I've been saving it for a project I have in mind for later on, since it's the original engine out of one of my Dads old pickups.

A PO dropped it in; originally it came with a 240 i6.

I've since fixed the leak too.

Yep, I could've told you the Buick 455 weighed over 600.  I remember standing on the frame rails lifting that damn cast iron manifold off.  Even at age 18 it took a lot out of me...
