| I hate page long quote trees as much as the next guy, but would it be possible to limit it by characters or words instead of simply number of quote blocks? |

The quote tree limitations are enough of a pain as it is. Counting characters would be ridiculously complicated, and would probably lose more context in detailed discussions than the current system. This. The current system is already hell on a phone and causing problems if you want to discuss something more complex than the weather. |
| If Goatboy is going to open up the quote tree code again, I long for a button that will trim to an acceptable number. Posting from my phone and tablets has sucked since the latest change. There should be a big button labeled "strip context" that will drop off the excess quote(s). |

He could add another button that would strip a random number of quotes. Label that one "I hate context". That would make GD even more entertaining. |

When quoting someone with five quotes, it automatically drops the oldest one to maintain the most recent quotes, instead of saying "quotes exceeded". And then close selective quote tree editing.

I've been on other forums that automatically remove everything except the previous quote. That works most of the time, but like others have said it's sometimes limiting if you want to reply to multiple people or whatever.
So to address that issue, there could be an option that will automatically include X number of previous quotes. Make it a CoC violation to abuse it, or even have it automatically limit in the same way multiple posts are automatically limited. GoatBoy, I once again volunteer my coding services if you want help |
