| You are out at night and looking through your NV, you spot two men a mile away on private land with IR lasers and IR strobes. How do you procede? Do you attempt to approach them or make contact? Or is it too risky? You realize that they ovbiously have NV too. |

raise 50 and fire for effect.
It will be situation dependent. There is no law against having NV but if an attempt to take game is done then there is a crime, at least in MI there is. How the contact is made again is situation dependent. There are a few ways to handle something like that. Joe |

Try and find their vehicle and wait for them there. Generally a good tactic, among others... Night patrol is NEVER done alone in our district... Prepare to be swarmed! Quoted:
If they are on private land and the GW does not see a crime being committed I don't see what they can really do. Always GUILTY until PROVEN otherwise!! If your in the woods with a gun at night and you don't have a fur taker's license... you be poachin'. Tell it to da judge. Night hunting is closed during regular deer season... so you definitely be poachin' then. Tell it to da judge. Of course I'm giving you the PA perspective, TX might be different. |

Were they hog hunting maybe?
Did you hear any shots or could these guys be over equipped airsofters? I know in Alberta, Canada it is legal to use NV to hunt Coyotes (legally either Fur-bearer/vermin depending on circumstances) at night. In Saskatchewan you would be breaking the law... Many possibilities. without knowing any more specifics, I think (as a general duty street cop not as a conservation officer,) I would try to find their truck and wait for them. |

I hunt coyotes at night with a light, on my own land. (wich is legal here) My boss at BLM told me some shit like "boy, the game warden's gunna get you" and I said "Why? It's legal" He was like "well, he's not going to like it....". Anyways, you can see into my ranch from a BLM road and I've always wundered the same thing, if a ranger is up there at night and sees a guy with a 500 lumen spot, is he going to come cut the lock on my gate and attempt to find me? |
