how can I find a specific member's profile on here?  I know the user name, but don't know how to search for them...

You could search for a post and then click the user info thing at the bottom.

I tried that, but couldn't find anything by them...I'm wondering if there's a way to search for a specific profile (a buddy of mine)...I know he's a member here, but I don't think he's posted anything - either in replies or new topics...

Go to the search.  type in author name, then click the drop down menu find posts they responded to or some such thing

Search the name on Google. Third result was your profile here when I searched your user id.
