I just noticed yesterday that my "hide the taskbar" feature for the desktop is not working properly. I tried fixing it by right clicking inside the taskbar, going into "properties", unchecking the "hide the taskbar" box and hitting the "apply" button. I then checked the "hide the taskbar" box and "apply" button. The taskbar then disappeared as it is supposed to but only until I click on anything on the desktop. It then immediately appears and will not go away.
Does anybody have an idea why this has happened and how I can correct this?

Have you tried toggling "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows?"

Yeah, that has had no effect.

I just fixed it by installing "Taskbar Activate" by Pierre-Marie DEVIGNE.

It's free and you can download it from

http://home.nordnet.fr/~pmdevigne/programmes_e.html#ActiveTache

Once you install it, make sure to go into Settings and take off "Delayed Activation
of the Taskbar".  My taskbar is working fine now after this.
