No big surprise there, but then in the follow-up story they still get it wrong.... Yesterdays article... Nov 13, 11:40 PM EST Police: Pedestrian Fires Machine Gun NEW YORK (AP) -- A man fired a machine gun into the air Monday as he walked along streets in a commercial area and was shot by police after he wouldn't drop the weapon, witnesses said. No other injuries were reported. "It was just pow, pow, pow, pow, pow," said Vincent Ho, who was at a dentist's office and said he heard at least seven shots. Shoppers and commuters on the busy strip in the Jamaica section of the borough of Queens scrambled for cover. Police, who received several 911 calls, said they confronted the gunman around 5:45 p.m. in an area crowded with shops and medical offices. The gunman was shot in a parking lot behind a row of stores after an exchange of gunfire and was taken to a hospital, police said. His condition wasn't immediately disclosed. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/13/AR2006111301627.html Note: in another realted article from yesterday the machine gun was equiped with a "silencer". 'UZI' MAN WAS OUT TO GET SIS PAL: COPS By ERIKA MARTINEZ November 15, 2006 -- The gun-toting man who was shot by cops on a Queens street Monday was on his way to shoot his sister's ex-boyfriend, authorities said yesterday. Patrick Ledger, 33, of Brooklyn, was allegedly going to settle a score with his sister's former flame when he was shot at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, police sources said. Ledger, who has been arrested 13 times, began firing a semi-automatic Masterpiece Arms handgun, designed to look like an Uzi, on 178th Street near Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, authorities said. As Ledger rounded the corner in search of his target, he muttered to himself and let out yet another .45-caliber round, police said. At least 13 people called 911 after hearing the gunfire. Cops encountered Ledger on Hillside Avenue and chased him around a White Castle and down an alley into a parking lot, authorities said. Ledger allegedly pointed the gun, equipped with a silencer and 30 rounds of bullets, at the officers and began to "pull the top lever of this weapon, trying to put a round, we believe, in the chamber. He had difficulty operating the weapon," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said, adding that he may have inadvertently flipped on the safety lock. When he refused to drop the gun, the cops shot Ledger in the left eye. He was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he was in serious condition. That's a MAC-10. Masterpiece Arms doesn't make Uzi clones, but they did just start making MAC's. Likely the first move in a series designed to kill their business or get them banned in certain areas. Second, that's a fake can on there. I don't see the point to fake suppressors, but they're pretty popular with the semi-auto SMG (Uzi, MAC, etc.) crowd. Third, it's not a machine gun by any stretch of the imagination. But hey, it's the media, so a black powder revolver automatically becomes a silenced sniper machine gun capable of massacring entire schools. |
Probably popular because that fucker weighs about 7 lbs. So if you hold it Scarface style with two hands, you just might shoot your finger off. ETA that's 7 lbs empty. A loaded mag adds some weight too. |

Yellow journalism at it's finest. Actually, I think it should be orange journalism. You know, a mixture of red and yellow...
