| Ok here's what's up, I work for a custom home builder and we have this one house that may have a squatter in it. There is shit in the toilet (no water on in the house), A bike in the unfinished basement, and a makeshift cot/sleeping pad in the basement also. I am going by tonight around 9 and see if anyone is there. Obivously if the person trys to harm me I will shoot him but if he is there what is the best thing to do? Should I try and leave without him seeing me and call the law or should I detain him/ hold him at gunpoint and then call the law? Thanks for the help guys |

Are you in a position where you can legally represent the company? If so, follow the earlier advice and have him trespassed.
If he's there, call the police and have him informed that he's not welcome on the property and that he'll be arrested for trespass if he comes back. Don't try to hold the guy if he jumps up and tries to leave while you're on the phone with the police. It's not worth it. |

Confirm they are there, call the law and trespass them. Not worth putting yourself in a situation to shoot somebody. ETA: Take a shit on the cot, he needs some payback for shitting in the toilet with no water. +1 When I worked construction, back durinig Reagan's first term (Electrical Apprentice), I was working a job that was a new apartment complex. Someone was going around and shitting in the bathtubs. Obviously the plumbing crew didn't like this. One morning, I walked into a unit to run Romex, and heard many loud and angry words being exchanged along with one voice repeatedly saying "I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY!" Apparently, the plumbing crew had caught the tub shitter in the act. There were two guys holding him by each arm, and a third guy was wiping the shitter's ass with a bat of fiberglass insulation. Yeah, that image is burned into my mind. I went to a different unit to run Romex. |

This is not part of your job. Call the police. No way youll be justified in shooting someone after you went looking for trouble on property that isnt yours.
This is as assanine as the off-duty bouncer who nearly got himself shot because he felt compelled to go all MMA on a fight that didnt even concern him because he thought he might get fired from his $10/hr job if he didnt intervene. |

If so, please define "harm"? |

ETA: Take a shit on the cot, he needs some payback for shitting in the toilet with no water. A house I was considering moving into had a homeless guy living in ther. He pooped in the toilet which wouldn't flush. Asshole the whole place wreaked of shit and that was in the winter. There were literally thousands of beer cans and the placed smelled of shit and stale beer. Sadly the only thing bringing up the property value was playboy tear outs pasted to the ceiling above the beds ETA: First thing confirm he is in there, second call the cops. Also this thread will look pretty bad in court in the event something does go down... OPSEC... |
