Anyone have a good suggestion for a open source sniffer?  Looking to sniff my local network.  I was using the snoop feature in Solaris, but I am looking for something a little better.

Any ideas?

Remember people...sniffers can be used for good or bad. Please use for only good.

(i bet we can guess who works in network security )

Ethereal is good. there are lots of good tools out there. They all pretty much do the same thing. IT's a matter or personal taste. Snort didn't really "float my boat", but some of my co-workers love it.

try tcpdump
it's much like snoop only more flexible.
If you want graphical try Ethereal.
